Man City line up £15million bid for Roma ace
Published 23:00 12/06/10 By Julian Bennetts

Manchester City are lining up a £15million raid for Roma’s giant defender Philippe Mexes.

Robert Mancini is desperate to bring in central defensive reinforcements after playing midfielder Vincent Kompany at the back towards the end of the season.

He has checked on Palermo’s highly-rated Dane Simon Kjaer but also wants a more experienced stopper.

Mexes, 28, was left on the bench for long periods last term and is keen for first-team football. And Mancini has long been a fan of the Frenchman.

It is possible that after Real decide whether they want Silva or Di Maria we could use the Ibra/Toure deal with Barca to keep them away from whichever is available.

Similarly Mancini's interest in Balotelli (welcomed by Moratti) could keep Inter away from them as well.

Could it be we are also playfully associating ourselves with all Fergie's targets in order to raise the price & aggravate their financial difficulties? Buying Vidic from them to help them get Kjaer would not be a good strategic move though.

At least Cappello realised he had made mistake putting him on the pitch as he simply isn't good enough for world level. Hopefully Mancini and more improvantly Marwood were watching and realised what an utter madness it'd be to spend over 25m on back up winger.
