If Mancini goes back in for Gago then I'm happy to go with his judgement, he will have had time to make his mind up who he wants.

Pretty good...

Interesting link from Telegraph online saying that we are holding back till Monday so that we can do a deal at a lower price.

Sounds as though we maybe have some kind of agreement in principle with the player?

Higuain would be a positive step. Not seen that much of Gago to be fair but do we need another DM?? We have NDJ, Barry, Zabba and Vinny who can all play there already plus Ibrahim and not to mention French Paddy who I guess will get shifted on?

Personally I think we will need a minimum of six strikers if we are to compete on all fronts next season and having the likes of
Dzeko
Ade
Tevez
Bellars
RSC
Higuain

would in my view give us all the options we need.

Benji (out of contract)
Robbie (will never play for us again)
Jo ( see Robbie)
Boj ( Will be allowed to leave)

Trouble is with the 25 player squad rule which might mean Bellars to be sold RSC used as a makeweight in Dzeko deal. Looking good whether the players sign for us is another cup of tea.

The Telegraph seem to think we're going to dealy the deal to try and get a lower price as we are apparently the only ones in the running for his signature.

Manchester City wait for Edin Dzeko's £33.8m escape clause to expire for making move
Manchester City are set to postpone a move for Wolfsburg forward Edin Dzeko until the Bosnian’s £33.8m buy-out clause at the German club expires next Monday.

Manchester City wait for Edin Dzeko's £33.8m escape clause to expire for making move
Come and get me: Manchester City look set to sign Edin Dzeko after interest from Chelsea and AC milan falls away.

With AC Milan priced out of the running for the 24-year-old and Chelsea’s interest in the player also on the wane, City manager Roberto Mancini appears to have a clear field in his attempt to make the prolific striker his first signing of the summer at Eastlands.

Despite reports in Germany on Thursday night that City had begun talks with the player and his advisors, senior City officials are understood to be waiting for Dzeko’s buy-out clause to expire at midnight on Monday before making a formal move.

Mancini’s interest in Dzeko, who has scored 56 goals in 94 appearances for Wolfsburg since arriving from the Czech club Teplice in 2007, has been confirmed, but City are confident that they can secure the player for less than his current price-tag once his escape clause runs out.

Mark Hughes, Mancini’s predecessor identified Dzeko as a target last summer before ultimately moving for the injury-ravaged Blackburn forward Roque Santa Cruz.

Dzeko was also monitored by Manchester United 12 months ago before the Old Trafford club completed the free transfer signing of Michael Owen.

Dzeko impressed in his two Champions League appearances against United, however, with goals in both encounters.

I think we need 2 good players in every position. Vinny was never that great in midfield but is solid at the back so I think his future lies in defence. Zabba is an average right back at best. NDJ can tackle and do little else.

A good defensive midfielder should also be able to contribute to the attacks also. Out of the players you listed, only Barry can do that and even his form needs to be more consistent next season.

With regards to the other 2, I would think Vieira is on his way if we're looking at Gago and Ibrahim is only young - he'll have plenty of opportunities this season to prove himself.

We should sign Grafite as well!

Just read that in the 2008-2009 season they scored 54 league goals between them!

It is a dangerous game we are playing if that is true though.
