Sorry Wooders, this smacks of the ronnie fiasco, Milan want Gerrard and Chelsea want Torres, BUT WAIT, self generated rumour says City are interested and will offer more money, we better up the offer and the deal and get it done.

I think it was in the News Of The World. Disappointed to see it even warrants being talked about.

How can anyone seriously want Gerrard at our club? He's a cheat of the highest order. Fantastic player but at too high a cost (ethically IMO).

Torres just whinges through games.

I can hand on heart say I'd prefer to stick with Ireland and Ade. Both with immense potential if managed right.

MANCHESTER CITY have lined up Emmanuel Adebayor and Stephen Ireland as bait in an £80m package for Steven Gerrard and Fernando Torres.

City will put forward the pairing as part of a sensational deal to bring two of the best players in the Premier League to Eastlands.

Although City fear the pair will only leave Liverpool for another team in the Champions League, they are serious bidders for the world-class duo.

Adebayor has been unhappy at City for most of the season and Ireland has failed to make an impact after winning last season's player of the year award.

City are determined to make their mark in the summer transfer market and the Liverpool pairing are proven Premier League performers.

Although Chelsea remain confident of landing Torres as part of a British record transfer fee, they cannot offer players in exchange.

That is City's bargaining tool as they gear up for some summer spending which has started with two of the world's best players.

Adebayor is valued at around £30m and has four years left on a staggering contract worth £150,000 a week.

Ireland is worth around £10m following a disappointing season at City and is pulling in just short of £4m a year.

Although City's bid for the Liverpool pair is ambitious, they believe they are putting forward a solution to the Kop's financial problems.

They are willing to strike a deal for around £40m cash, plus two players with proven pedigree to assist Liverpool's rebuilding project.

City's other stellar target is Cesc Fabregas, but his advisors have made it clear that he is only prepared to leave Arsenal for Barcelona.

Instead, City are putting together a package they believe could yet tempt the two stars to leave Merseyside.

Adebayor scored 14 times in 26 appearances for City last season, but has rarely looked happy at the club.

Ireland has been making noises all season about his future at City and will quit the club this summer.

i would like to see these two at coms, but i would still keep ade and steve, we do need to keep our better players here

I wouldnt have them on the bench of my dream team, injury prown and past it
didnt know liverpool were in the CL
since fucking when?, they valued tevez at 18 2 weeks ago
ireland, even with his bad season he's had is THE best playmaker in the premiership and we all know this. 20 mil atleast
Why would we do that, are we a club of such fuckwittery that we would help our rivals, I DONT THINK SO

This is some of the sweatiest cheesy bollox iv ever read, fucks sake 2 kids read this out loud of the back of a newspaper in the shop and i actually started laughing out loud, the 4 people in the shop looking at me like a wrongen. Gerrard is shite/past it/a fucking cunt. Torress would be santa cruz all over again. If this EVER EVER happened i would lose all faith in city and start watching fucking cricket.

And a beautiful post. You'd stop watching City if we signed Steven Gerard and Fernando Torres?

Excellent.

Could you buy City with the lottery win?! Seems like an anti-climax when the Sheikh gets his chequebook out.

Kudos on the GA mention.

I can only hope for certain things in relation to City. Obviously not one thing I can do can make bugger all difference. All I can do is hope that we make it to the top but that we do so in a team that I can relate to. For all the players that have to us in the past that were not to my liking individually, e.g. Cole, no one stands out quite as unsavoury as Gerrard. Not just because he is a divin' c*nt but because he is the embodiment of Liverpool. What is City anymore - a collage of past Prem stars? I want us to stand on our own and if that means another year of development so be it. We have some marvalous players already - we just need to add a few decent players to this IMO. Some bravery is what I am hoping for.

(When I say decent players I mean ones who don't cheat, dive and whinge)

to clear this all up then. for a decent price i would have torres or gerrard. but the deal with stevie and ade and money would be far far far too much a price to pay. we've already seen that ireland can be just as good as gerrard so why give him plus money and id rather go in for villa then torres anyway because we've already got one cripple

Ireland can be just as good as Gerrard? Since when has Ireland put in season after season of consistently excellent performances? Answer never and he never will. The club is looking at players who can thrive under the pressure of delivering their very best game after game after game. Its all about attitude, mindset and mental strength. Gerrard has this. Torres as well. Ireland hasn't and neither has Ade. Nor do you get Gerrard whining on the sofa of Soccer AM that the manager doesn't like me. In fairness you don't get Ireland doing it either notwithstanding his fondness to blame the last manager but one for his current failings.

We are going to have to accept that if you want to win the top prizes then there has to be a spine of players who don't except anything but the best from themselves and everyone else around them. I do see glimmers of this with some players we currently have but Ireland and Ade ain't amongst them.
