According to BBC teletext, Mancini is planning to sell 14 members of his current squad. They quote their source as the Daily Mirror.
If you can keep your head when all around you are losing theirs, it's just possible that you haven't really grasped the gravity of the situation.

Manchester City target Gianluigi Buffon remains uncertain of future after Juventus final day snub

As Juventus ended the campaign with a disastrous 3-0 humbling at the hands of Milan, goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon was understandably downbeat after failing to make an appearance in what could have proved to be his last game for the Bianconeri.

“I don’t know if this will be my last game,” he declared to SkySport.

“Today I didn’t take kindly to sitting out as I never thought I’d be at the final day without taking part.

The glovesman was then probed as to whether he could be tempted in moving to Manchester City over the summer.

“I really don’t know,” repeated the Italian no.1.

“These issues really don’t mean a lot right now given the problems the club has faced this season.”

Although I see where you're coming from Ibrahimovic is a better player than Adebayor.

I got talking to a Liverpool fan earlier tonight. He claims to know Steven Gerrard personally and Gerrard has told him there is absolutely no chance of him leaving Liverpool. But he then went on to say (and looked genuinely gutted) that Torres is almost a cert to leave.

I'm not an ITK and don't claim to be, but make of that what you wish.

I would say Torres to Chelsea is about as nailed on as it gets....which I guess isn't saying much.

What I have heard from around the traps is that Gourcuff is all but signed by City, so there's good news, but again it's just from roaming the web from people who wouldn't want it to happen.

I wish I was an ITK.

Maybe he was talking to Joe assuming Joe was still down there tying up loose ends - or talking to McLeish about possible business (hopefully not Joe-related business though)

Edit: maybe I should read the article before posting next time - for some reason I assumed it was going to be about Mancini, not Gerrard - silly me

Sunday Mirror is linking us with an offer to Liverpool of 40 million PLUS Ade and Ireland for Torres and Gerrard, we're also being linked with Higuain as a standby by one of the Sunday tabloids, was watching SSN but didn't catch which one.

ade and ireland for torries and gerrard

Postby CITYSTEVEDON » Sun May 16, 2010 5:14 am

05/2010

MANCHESTER CITY have lined up Emmanuel Adebayor and Stephen Ireland as bait in an £80m package for Steven Gerrard and Fernando Torres.

City will put forward the pairing as part of a sensational deal to bring two of the best players in the Premier League to Eastlands.

Although City fear the pair will only leave Liverpool for another team in the Champions League, they are serious bidders for the world-class duo.

Adebayor has been unhappy at City for most of the season and Ireland has failed to make an impact after winning last season's player of the year award.

City are determined to make their mark in the summer transfer market and the Liverpool pairing are proven Premier League performers.

Although Chelsea remain confident of landing Torres as part of a British record transfer fee, they cannot offer players in exchange.

That is City's bargaining tool as they gear up for some summer spending which has started with two of the world's best players.

Adebayor is valued at around £30m and has four years left on a staggering contract worth £150,000 a week.

Ireland is worth around £10m following a disappointing season at City and is pulling in just short of £4m a year.

Although City's bid for the Liverpool pair is ambitious, they believe they are putting forward a solution to the Kop's financial problems.

They are willing to strike a deal for around £40m cash, plus two players with proven pedigree to assist Liverpool's rebuilding project.

City's other stellar target is Cesc Fabregas, but his advisors have made it clear that he is only prepared to leave Arsenal for Barcelona.

Instead, City are putting together a package they believe could yet tempt the two stars to leave Merseyside.

Adebayor scored 14 times in 26 appearances for City last season, but has rarely looked happy at the club.

Ireland has been making noises all season about his future at City and will quit the club this summer.

i would like to see these two at coms, but i would still keep ade and steve, we do need to keep our better players here

It's apparently from the Sunday Mirror - they're linking Spurs with a 6m move for Micah as well (and have claimed we have a fallback of Higuain if we don't get Torres) - smacks of lazy journos trawling the internet midweek and padding out a sunday paper with bullshit rumours

He looks (on clips only, which is almost meaningless for forming an opinion) like a slightly slower Bellamy but with far greater close control. I like his instincts, and how he seems to make himself available almost immediately after laying the ball off.

Swap deals rarely come off and a double swap would happen once in a blue moon.

This whole thing will turn into another kaka or terry fiasco. Any positive noises from agents etc are just to force the hand of where they really want to go e.g. Chelsea or barca for torres and real or milan for gerrard

If we pull this off, maybe we should try Messi and Iniesta for Bellamy and MJ and a pile of cash.

40 million plus Ade and Stevie to 'assist Liverpool's rebuilding project'? Is the media perception of City such that we've become a charity? Perhaps we should throw in a reacharound or two for Hicks and Gillett to prove that we're really philanthropic.
