No way he ever plays for another Premier League club.

I imagine back to Benfica or maybe a season at Barcelona until he realises they don't pay their bills. Maybe MLS is an option too.

I'd be inclined to offer him 2 more years at a reduced rate with decent appearance bonus and other add ins - with another clause in there allowing him to go to Benfica on a free after the first year if he wants to.

This season has shown he still has it in the tank when played in the right position and it seems he a really positive influence on the younger members of the squad.

If he captains us to the title (and domestic treble) I think we might be able to sway him for one final hurrah

You say "when played in the right position". Really ? Bernie is the epitomy of the Old Dutch way of playing. He is all over the field . Always near or involved in the action ,whether right side , left side, dashing back to take a pass from Donna, helping in midfield. Attacking and trying to score,

He has been great for ages, This season especially.

What City have learned is that , like Gündo, players going away , as they are older , don't come back as good as they were when they left.
So , yes Bernie could easily add another year or two. Not after a break though.

There was a pundit either on TS or during game last night commenting on Bernardo being a legend and saying about him having a statue and rightly so!

Whoever it was said "well they need to make sure its on wheels, so they move it all round the ground"

Funny but a true reflection of Captain Nuisance!

I love the idea of his statue being moved every season.

They could make a game of tracking it down.

I know he can (and has) played all over the pitch for us. I just think in the last few years his influence has been wasted when put otu wide. This season he's been consistently played in the middle and has been far more effective. It's been really noticable in recent weeks how he drops as deep as the CBs to be the one starting the attacks from the back, far more effective than allowing the two CBs to be the ones doing that (Although Guehi and Khus have both been brilliant pushing forward in the last few games too)

Spot on Nicky. Over the years Bernardo has had the legs to play anywhere. I wouldn't want him on the wing now though, his best position is in the middle.
