Pep Has To Go The End Of This Season

Here is the place to talk about all things city and football!

Just fucking stick to football.

I don't do politics but agree on the stick to footy angle. Pep is now embarrassing the owners and the club and this may well bring about his exit very quickly. Not what we need with a cup semi tonighr. Total madness - fuck deflection.

Whether now, or more likely in the summer.

He hasn’t criticised the owners but I’ll bet good money they are pissed

Maybe the owners support some of the things he says, we all know that the owner/s get a free pass here even though what with the ticketing issues and the reluctance to address other matchday problems whilst virtue signalling the ground to death before ,during and after any match we play.

It's one great big clusterfuck.

1. Just seen it - i actually thought he was linking the blatant images of VAR with politics? We have never in seasons gone by seen the corruption as clear.

2. Lots of assumptions about our owners here, mainly i) do they give a fuck ii) they would be pro hamas.

Actually stepping back it's really sad this is happening. Pep's given us some of our best times supporting City. Genuinely thought he got us at one point. Some of the football we've played in the 100 points season, treble, domestic quad - absolutely ridiculous stuff that we'll likely never see again.

It is a bit sad this.

UAE doesn't give a fuck about Gaza other than when it suits / for optics.

If rumours are to be believed, one of the reasons the Saudis kicked UAE military out of Yemen recently, is that UAE are getting a bit too cozy with Israel and have overstepped the mark. Israel and UAE recently were the only 2 countries that declared Somaliland a country, where they both just happen to have military installations on the red sea - the delcaration is allegedly a cover for Israel and UAE to have increased control and influence in the Red Sea - Saudi have basically said enough's enough.

Palestinians are actually welcome in UAE and can get a visa no problem - Lebanese, Pakistan and Bangladesh are 100% banned though.

I just asked google AI to confirm that there were over 2.4 million Palestinians in Jordan. It couldn't confirm she had had so many boyfriends

So, what has actually happened, is at the weekend he spoke at a rally in barcelona - in his own personal time and not as a club representative. At the rally, he said what is being attributed to him as being said in the press conference, but what he said at the press conference yesterday is nothing of the sort - he was asked the question, he answered it, and the fucking media have butchered the two together to make it look like he was grandstanding in a press conference on club time.

Here's the video end to end - https://www.dailymotion.com/video/x9z6lzi

And here's the transcript of exactly what he said.

1: He was asked a direct question in the press conference

Hi, Pep, Sorry. This is just a question that's occurred to me now, when you're talking there about images, when you talked about Palestine, and Ukraine, and Sudan, and things like this. You obviously gave the big talk in Barcelona last week, which was received very well, by a lot of people around the world.

Why do these subjects matter so much to you, to the extent where you're very comfortable talking out?

2: His response

For me, it hurts me. It would be the opposite side, it would hurt me. It would harm for another country, it hurts me.

It's not about the position. So,every argument, I'm sorry, this is my feeling, you can discuss, when, completely kill thousands of innocent people, it hurts me.

It's no more complicated than that. No more. I have a lot of people, friends, you know, for many, many countries, a lot of friends. But when you have an idea, and you have to defend, you have to kill thousands of innocent people, I'm sorry, I'm going to stand up always I will be there. Always.

I cannot imagine nobody, anyone cannot feel that. When you see the images, every single day. The fathers, the mothers, the kids, being happy, what happened, being destroyed their lives, and absolutely, the people cannot feel, a little bit of, be attached.

Zero mention of Gaza, Israel, Sudan, US Murders etc

It makes me sad none of you stopped to think whether the media may have a role to play in this before going in 2 footed on him

But I don’t think anyone claimed he started talking about the subject unprompted.
What he could have done was keep it very simple and very clear: “This is a press conference about City and the Carabao Cup semi-final. We can discuss world politics and my personal views in a different setting. Today is about City, on City’s time, and on City’s payroll.” That would have ended it immediately.

Instead, he seemed eager to engage and address the issue, which suggests he genuinely enjoys talking about it.

What becomes problematic is the wider context. He missed the previous press conference (against Spurs) because he was reportedly late due to political commitments? I didn't hear any other reason, right? If that’s true, then it crosses a line, because at that point he didn’t perform his duties, and the club felt the consequences when points were dropped.

He's fucking shit on the pitch the last 2 years, lets nail him for that - but lets not fall for this shite that feels extremely calculated to achieve the exact reaction it just did here.

You're not setting the record straight at all -

Guardiola began talking about the global issues without being asked about them - the initial question was on Phil Foden's recent form before a follow-up one on injustices felt by his players at the hands of match officials following Sunday's 2-2 draw at Tottenham.

Guardiola refused to blame the referee saying the reason they play good or bad "belongs to us", while decisions are about "images" not "interpretation".

The Spaniard then referenced global conflicts by saying: "Never, ever in the history of humanity have we had the information in front of our eyes watching more clearly than now - genocide in Palestine, what happened in Ukraine, what happened in Russia, what happened all around the world - in Sudan

What you posted, was not what he said at the press conference though was it?

What he actually said at the press conference wasn't even newsworthy, it was a 45 second soundbite from a 20 minute conversation.

Do you think he didn't have permission from the club to attend the presser? And thats the reason we didn't beat spurs, fuck me you're clutching at straws now pal.

He created the consequences on the Sunday when he couldn't motivate the team to play in the 2nd half - it's got fuck all to do with whether he attended a fucking press conference, as well you know.
