While villa may have been a hard watch, I'm sure were were forced back to that default sideways passing because villa had their shit together and kept Haaland quiet, while I think I speak for most in saying that the sooner Savinho is rotated back out of the team the better. I hope he comes good - but he is not at the standard required right now.

Is this how its going to be now with city fans every time we lose a game?

Losing the odd game may be healthy in the short term as it stops Guardiola regressing long term to his old ways.

Our possession stats are 65% this season compared with 62% last season.

2024/25 (Full)3861.7%Dominant but dipped in key losses (e.g., vs. Arsenal/Utd counters). Led PL teams.

2025/26 (So Far)965.2%Up slightly; e.g., 68% vs. Villa (despite the loss), 72% in derby

Why let facts get in the way of a good story. Cant you appreciate our change of style, up tempo fast attacking football? Or are you one of the dullards that still like watching paint dry.

Watching a different team to me. Our style is possession based and its boring. Our success and goals have come when we played direct quick through balls yet it seems we play like that sporadically and i feel against Pep's wishes.
If i am 'entitled' as have no problem with it. I expect better from s manager paid millions, from players paid handsomely and from a club that has given the playing staff every support and top class facilities.
With a less funded team i would accept dross more often.

The game against Villa was quite open and City had chances but the final pass was quite clumsy until they managed to score.Once Villa were able to get the goal, they shut up shop and did sod all except defend ,quite often with a seven player back line. It worked for them this time for over 60 minutes.

It is very difficult to get by to the line on the wings or even through the middle.

It is not just City thet experience this, even scouse and the Arse have the same problem.

We've been up against stacked defences for years. They are always difficult to break down so we should know how to do it. Slow build up is not the answer. Give up possession let them come on to us and create space behind. Done this once or twice and it works.

Sometimes it is . It's called drawing them out. Boxers draw a punch, medieval sieges, battles , false retreats , happens all the time in all walks of life. Sometimes dominant players can burn themselves out trying to break through, need to try something else . Bowlers often pitch a nice dolly to get a defensive player to hit out and get caught. When we have lost its like watching Ali vs Foreman dope on a rope

The Villa game was disappointing. I thought we deserved a draw, despite bit being at our best, but it was "one if those days". But demanding or expecting a win there is wierd. Villa haven't lost at home for 13 months. Even at our best and in great form it'd not been a gimmie.

I thought we were looking really good for a month and a half leading up to the Villa game, so I hope it was a temporary glitch. I don't pay too much heed to the Swansea game. We had plenty of similar performances in early cup rounds even in our best seasons.

you have a referee and VAR team that completely ignore a clear penalty on Gvardiol. Handed out yellow cards for city players , yet somehow missed similar or worse infringements by Villa. Then you have the home team steadfastly defending a one nil lead with a seven player backline and three just beyond and even then we get a goal, just marginally offside in the build up.

If you give possession to Villa , they just wellie the ball up field and let you start all ovr again

Villa got lucky and city had a few players not playjng well. Bobb and Doku were poor , so to Foden.

Still , let's see how close it all is at Christmas.

I read the first lines of this thread thought it was a rag wind up. peps the best manager we will have. Thought after pep who I’d like Vincent would be my choice but Bayern realise he might be interested so are extending his contract.
You can’t expect to win everything all the time that only applies to micky mouse leagues like Spain or France or god forbid Scotland.

How did it work out for the rags when Ferguson finally fucked off? -13 years of pure shite — no league titles since 2013, half a dozen bosses, two billion pissed away, and still no identity. I’m not saying we will copy that disaster but why even flirt with it if we just we let Pep coast into decline?

We pay the man £30 m a year to deliver ffs !!!! He doesn’t do it for less money !!! We got our money’s worth for a decade, fair play. Last season’s collapse was forgiven — legacy and all that bollocks. But we’re nine games into year two of this same old same old version and there’s zero excuse for another failure as far as I’m concerned.
He pocketed 30 million last year for a disgraceful season (to use Bernardo’s words ) and if he repeats it this season then he needs to go , that would be sound business after spanking 60 million into his pocket for 2 years of failure -not disloyalty. Any decent business owner sees the writing on the wall and makes that call - the blind nostalgic owners don’t and then suffer later.
I’ve seen fuck all evolution this season , same sideways passing , same full-back bingo, same “trust the process” shite while Arsenal and Spurs roll us over. Other managers have adapted — that’s why we’re dropping points to them.
Pep’s on thin fucking ice IMO.

Spuds and Arsenal didn't roll City over Carl. Neither did Brighton or Villa.

It's also pointless complaining about Peps Salary. The Clubs turnover is massive compared to twenty years ago. The money going around in the PL is ridiculous, but it is at least a free market. Not like some crappy north american sport. You know teams get relegated and promoted for their incompetence.
Let's see how Villa play at scousefield tonight.

They may not have rolled us over, that was an exaggeration on Carl's part.

But, the undeniable fact remains, we garnered 1 point from those games. And admittedly three were away. But still. It isn't the mark of champions

Vincent Kompany is irreplaceable at Bayern — ask any proper Bayern fan - I hope he ends up here.

2025/26 Season - Record-Breaking Dominance currently on an unprecedented 14 wins from 14 games across all competitions, including a perfect 8/8 in the Bundesliga (goal difference +26, the best start in German top-flight history). They're 5 points clear at the top, unbeaten, and yet to concede first in any match.

I work with several Bayern fans, they don't really care where Kompany stays or goes, there is always someone else to come in and maintain their BL dominance.

Now we are post game and have had time to think - It’s early days, but the signs were there yesterday that have got fans like me thinking, “Hmm… maybe, just maybe, he’s starting to shift his mindset from his boring pass pass game to what we have recently seen”
Let’s see how it plays out.
