Rico Lewis

One of our own, but since he signed the extension, he got less and less game time, and his cameos were not the best.

At this point, we need to ask if he is good enough?

I think he will stay to have the english numbers, but, sadly, he will never be a regular in the first 11.

I think his down turn started last season and this has been more of the same. Until we’re bossing games against all comers again he won’t fully suit our system. He’s too small to battle against the teams that stand up to us.

Technically brilliant but he’s not a RB and he’s not taking Rodri or Reijners out the midfield any time soon.

Having said all that, he’s still young and seems a top lad and I genuinely hope to be proven wrong.
Tracking back is overrated.

He will never be a full back. He has positive traits but being a natural defender is not one of them.
So he's a midfielder, but competition is tough in those positions.

Personally I never seen what others did fingers crossed I’m wrong but like marmoush I don’t think he’s good enough to hold down a single position

Silva 1 and 2 are both slight. Not saying Rico is close to their abilities, but I always like him in the top third of the pitch. Think he would be doing better there than as a fullback. But the competition in our attack is very fierce.

I actually think we’re lacking the level of quality we need in midfield right now, and that’s a spot he can fill. I’ve always seen him more as a full-back, but at the moment moving into the middle might be his only real chance.

The reason I say that is simple: we don’t have enough top players in that area. Nunes was shifted away even though he came as an attacking midfielder, and Kovacic, honestly, should never have been brought in. Add a potential injury to Reijnders and we’re in real trouble.

In my view, we’re short of at least two elite, or at the very least very solid, midfielders. That leaves an opening for Rico and Echeverri to step up and claim a place.

I hear what you're saying, but I think Rico's too slow for playing defensive mid.

Haven't we binned off Echeverri?

Not a defensive, creative, something like what Bernie is doing, or was.

@Notts.
Yes, was talking in the next couple of years. Hoping Echeverri will make a mark in Germany.

Then we're aligned. I see Kova and Reijnders more as box-to-box, playing alongside Rodri or Gonzales. Rico I would indeed like to see more in the David and Bernardo Silva role.
