Sunderland don't mind spending a bit of money but have brought in plenty of dross (Quantity rather Quality) since they got back in the Prem. At least Hughes would use their money wisely and would get them in a decent position.
Shame if it was to happen though, 'cos Quinney would go down in my estimations. Keane and then Bruce may be a coincidence, however if he's going for trips, then there's something seriously wrong!
Sunderland have surprised me this season. If their poor form carries on then they could be an outside bet for the 3rd relegation spot. All it takes is for Wolves or someone to get a run together and The Mackems are looking over their shoulders. It'll be a shame for Niall Quinn because he's a honourable Football Man.
If you look at our last few Managers as Eriksson, Pearce and Keegan then you'll see that none of them have gone on to thrive in their next Jobs. Sven buried himself at Notts County following his disaster at Mexico, Pearce is a member of the England backroom Team and Keegan made a gaffe by returning to Newcastle following several seasons of nothing. Hughes will most definitely buck the trend, IMHO.
A RAG reliably informs me that Bruce and Hughes never really saw eye to eye as Team Mates. Hughes replacing Bruce at Sunderland will be ironic.
