We have as good at the club already

Actually almost hope we sign no one so we have to actually use the Academy

Just checked his stats for Frankfurt. Look impressive to me.
12 goals ,6 assists in 29 games last season.
13 goals 7 assists in 15 this season.

The German league is not even close to the PL
Neither are any of the European leagues for that matter

A players character and temperament have as much sway as stats in foreign leagues in this regard.

No doubt he is a talented lad. No doubt he’s played well at Frankfurt. But I really doubt he is any better than Savinho. Who by the way had better stats in la Liga last season. And if we are to sell McAtee to Fulham or some such side for a reported £40M, is he going to be an improvement? Unknown of course at this stage, but there is a big elephant trumpeting in the room that goes by the name of Palmer. Cole Palmer.

I reckon the powers that be will veto a signing such as this for fear of a repeat, before we’ve established whether McAtee, or indeed anyone else graduating from our enviable world class academy, is good enough for us.

Phillips and Nunes have already been proven to not be any better than guys we let go. Our owners strike me as the sort of businessman who don’t like to be made mugs of on a regular basis

Actually he scored 17 in 41 last year in all competition, and before that he scored 6 in 36.
In comparance, same number with Fullkrug who is flopping at WHU

There's a lot of Mickey Mouse leagues but the Bundesliga isn't 1 of them.
BM, and Dortmund both been in many CL finals, Leverkusen going unbeaten last season and reaching Europa final.
Frankfurt are 3rd this season behind Bayern and Leverkusen, a lot of that is probably down to him.

Take those three out and yes it is a much lower standard than the PL

Same for LaLiga without Barca and the 2 Madrids

The rest of the Bundesliga is lower PL standard or top Championship

I’d say that proves how bad the Bundesliga is.

Leverkusen going unbeaten then getting absolutely dicked by Liverpool.

Not really- football doesn't work like that. They got further than Liverpool in the same competition in Europe last season.

Yeah, I know you said Bundesliga, I am just pointing out if you look at all comps is not that impressive. He might be a good player, but he looks far from City levels.

Have you won a discussion lately ? I think you need your mate OD to give you a hand.

Good luck.

You’re right. A knockout comp anything can happen.

If you truly believe that the German league isn’t poor then so be it.

Won as many against you as Pep's won trophies here.

Your knowledge is impressive, I've never heard of him!

Is the word “academy” your kryptonite?

Obviously you don't know anything about him either, so just talking shite.

Your obsession with 'the kids' is a straight route to the Championship

I’ve not made a comment on the lad, not sure how my opinion on him can be “talking shit” then?

The hyperbole “you love all the academy kids” is nonsense. I’d say 99% of posters on here agree that McAtee or O’Reilly could have been given more game time. I don’t think that’s out of the question considering how bad we’ve been.

We’ve had 3 months to get our heads around a change of strategy. I know we want to look like we are not panicking.
That’s not going to cut it, we can all see the issues, so Jan or July makes no odds. The loss of CL football will be far more significant. Let’s just address the issues.

Did I miss something, has he left or said himself he wants away, or are we just continuing the melt down assuming the worst?

Fed up reading what we are PLANNING to do, lining up etc.

Not so long ago we had our deals tied up ready to go before the window opened
