He hasn't shown anything yet to show he'll be good enough to be a regular for us. Compared to where Phil was at the same age, they are miles apart (and you need to be that good to make it with us).

If he went out on loan to a Premier League side and got plenty of minutes, we'd have a better indication of he'll make it or not with us.

when i see palmer play, he doesn't give me the impression that 'he wants it'
clearly talented but never seems to give his all...

Similar. But on the few occasions he came on in 21/22 (and possibly the start of 22/23, up to the 6-3 over the Rags), I thought he overdid it and was like a headless chicken.

I honestly don't think he's going to make it with us from what I've seen, although admittedly I haven't seen enough youth games to see what many others see in him from there. He's only started 1 game in the current Euros; a dead rubber against Germany in the group stage.

City academy proving once again, it can be done. How long before Bernados new bride is screaming HALF!

Manchester City are ready to accept a bid this summer of between £45m and £50m for Portugal winger Bernardo Silva, 28. (Football Insider)

What a joke the BBC are! The same "gossip" column quotes Palace's Guehi at £60m, and the arse's Balogun at £50m. Obviously better players than Bernie...

Mount is going for £60m as well. If the club sell him for £45m I’ll call it a day. No way they do that.

I guarantee we would let Farca have him for that fee and allow them to pay us in catalogue terms

That sort of crap usually comes from the Barca camp. Why would they brief out a low figure to help either Barca, PSG or even the Saudis? Ridiculous.

Ever since we won the treble, we have to take your promises with a pinch of salt.

I think this is where we've been clever with the Rice bid. Not only has it made Arsenal pay more than they wanted but as a yardstick, it also prices nearly everyone out of a move for Bernardo.
Balotelli......that's a brilliant finish.

Not done his chances of a decent loan any harm tonight for the under 21s. Scored one and assisted the other two

Just watched Palmer failing to sing the National Anthem alongside an English dipper and their execrable manager (who qualified to play for Ireland like Tony Cascarino.) Depressing, following Ratboy's example :(

Southampton signing Shea Charles, another highly rated kid from us. £9m with the usual pointless buy back.

It’s absolutely embarrassing at this point. I guarantee their fans would be the first to shout “oil money!” but they’re happy to take every decent kid and staff member we’ve got.

The sell on percentage is perhaps more relevant. The Academy business model obviously involves raking in cash for graduates far more than promoting the odd youngster to the first team.

This is what it seems. I remember around the time we sold SWP to Chelsea, our Academy was said to cost something like £2m per year to run, and made an annual average of a few hundred grand in transfer fees, with the SWP transfer basically ensuring its sustainability for the mid-term. I wonder how much it costs and earns these days: A player like - to take a random example - Ryan McGivern would have probably been on under £2K per week while with us, while nowadays someone in his situation will likely be on over ten times that amount, plus we have far, far more players due to both the nature of youth football and the fact that our players are attractive loanees for clubs both in the UK and abroad.

Marcia speculating Valverde or Tchouameni might be sold by Real Madrid to help pay for Mbappe. If Bernardo goes Valverde would be an excellent replacement. Great player.

We’re now the “business” that we used to take the piss out of the rags for being.
