On numbers we are down one player from last season (two if include Torres). A defender. In arguably our weakest position.
Our bench last season was threadbare (no experience) for some important matches in the CL & PL.
We ran out of defenders for the CL semis and the PL run-in.

This season will be more demanding domestically and internationally because of the WC.
On transfers we have pocketed about £100M.

It does not make any sense.
I am not into conspiracies but I am 100% certain there has to be a good reason for this. There is something else going on.

Like what ? Ffp type shit?

If curly head signed we'd be sweet, with palmer getting the chance over an expensive risk (we all wanted raz out and we didn't have much choice with him or heyzeus )

Sheffield aren’t a PL team any longer and aren’t likely to be any time soon

Unless we got a decent loan fee, which I doubt, then surely he would be better at ours as another option

Young players want to play. He’s better off there if he plays regularly. If he stayed here he’d barely get any minutes. Same with Delap. I presume the intention is to give Palmer some decent minutes this campaign.

True. But a very short term thought

He can play with cloggers and at a far lower standard. Or train with the best facilities, players and manager every day with minutes a very real possibility.

Chelsea linked with Aubameyang now and DeJong and Cucurella and....................
Bernardo linked with Barcalona, who have already signed Lewandowski, Raphinha, Christensen........
We have no LB, McAtee just gone..............

Chelsea seem to be determined to have the biggest PL squad ever.
We seem to be determined to have the smallest PL squad ever.

Barca are broke (cannot even register their new players), we have a war chest on transfer profits alone......

This is really weird. Just makes no sense at all.

WTF is going on.
