Actually, since clubs are 51 fan owned in Germany ( with the unusual set up at RB Leipzig), there s every chance they wouldn't get it passed the fans.

Real & Barca are also owned by their members I believe.

They've talked about a further three clubs to join as founding members at some point - my bet is on Bayern, Dortmund and PSG. The first two have to find some way of getting it past their fans, PSG have to wait for Qatar to host the world cup. I would be very surprised if any of the three criticise the Super League in the meantime.

Dortmund have stated they won't be part of it. Munich and PSG are keeping shtum.

Saw suggestions that Porto may be one of the founding members.

Scratch that, have just read Porto have distanced themselves from it too.

Maybe one of the french clubs after reading Tokyo's link - Marseilles? Monaco? Lyon?

Probably Benfica as they are European Royals or Ajax.

Great point that I saw online. Who will be the refs? The "best" ones are at UEFA.

Step forward PIGMOB and mike "the kipper" riley. They've been groomed for it for a decade.

I actually thought Celtic would be part of it. Would be one of the clubs that had most to gain. They have huge global fanbase and no way to milk it.
Sometimes we're good and sometimes we're bad but when we're good, at least we're much better than we used to be and when we are bad we're just as bad as we always used to be, so that's got to be good hasn't it?

My money's on L'Om. They are usually involved in these sort of things.

Likely to be involved in a new British league if the 6 clubs leave. Or they could wait it out and see if there will be a ESL 2.

They shouldn't be any anywhere near a Super League. Spurs and Arsenal are one thing but a team who isn't good enough for the group stages of the Europe League is a bit of a stretch.

It shouldn't just be Celtic and Rangers if they move. If Burnley, Bournemouth, Wigan or any other small team that have graced the EPL over the past decade with TV money can do it so can an Edinburgh team or Aberdeen. Easily more valuable to the league in terms of fanbase. Much easier to attract players to Edinburgh than Sunderland or Newcastle.

I would be blown away if Ajax or Benfica are not a part of it. At least Ajax redefined football in the 70s.

He knew this was coming and knew many of the details, I suspect he has spend days, perhaps weeks writing that rant.

We can agree with him, but what are his motivations? A poster above mentioned that as an investor in a non league club, he has vested interests and loses out.

This (nicked from FB) sums up my doubts... "[Neville] works for Sky and they were the ones who changed football and made it more about money and overseas investors . Are Sky making the most noise as they don't have the rights to show the games yet?"

100% this. The guy is a walking contradiction.

He may be, and he's a total cunt, but on this, he's totally right, rehearsed or not.

100% agree - what he said was right, despite my theories about his motivations. But if there was no lockdown, we'd see plenty of football fans going on an almost identical rant down the pub.

Veery depressing. It's been written on the wall for a long time, but I've chosen not to think about it. No I have no choice. A league without relegation /promotion or qualification based on merit, is of no interest to me – even if City's in it. It also devalues the PL for me, since the clubs partaking will gain massive financial advantages and make the playing field even more uneven.

I just have to figure out another reason to go on city breaks to Manchester without the missus. Gigs, perhaps?
