Joke aside, I don't know how he can stay after this, to be honest.
I think we will settle for a 100 mil deal and Jesus+Garcia.

I genuine think Messi burned his bridge at Farsa, this can only end in his favour only if they arrest Bartomeu.

I think City have already told them and Messi were not paying a penny if he’s legally available for free and that’s thrown everything off. And good on the club if that’s the case.

I don't think so we played that hardball, I want to believe, but there is no chance for me.

I would hope this is the case. Messi trying to come out of it all with no shit attached to him and being the good guy. Be interesting to see what his club and fans make of this now

Marca reporting just. The clause La Liga “Tebas” have quoted is the opposite he can leave. The contract clearly states it. This is not over. Messi is the most powerful in this. The president is a dead man walking. It’s clever by Messi. I stay jog about you get nothing but abuse every day until I leave. You think about that Mr. Presidente.

Messi doesn’t want to go to court against the club he loves, the same club that would be dragging him into the courtroom against his wishes.

The club’s legal argument is literally that they’ve got him trapped on a technicality, because while everyone agrees he should have been able to leave, a global pandemic happened.

“I love the club too much to not let them exploit me and take advantage of me again.”

Fucking weird situation. I wish we had never been linked.

He is firmly putting the ball back in their court now isn't he.
He stays and waltzes off for zilch in June. Although 34 then.
You think they might look for a deal now which gains them some much needed cash.
I wouldn't say its over, ide say more shite to listen to for a while yet.

Well hes staying. Kinda sucks but we'll be fine. Onto a CB and hopefully LB and Aouar.

Lionel Messi to Goal: "I wasn't happy and I wanted to leave. I have not been allowed this in any way and I will STAY at the club so as not to get into a legal dispute. The management of the club led by Bartomeu is a disaster"

He's shit anyway. Have seen YouTube videos of him and he's an unpolished diamond. Wonder if Samaras is available for a final season.

It's over, make no mistake. In actual fact it was never even really on in the first instance.

There was never real intention to leave on the part of Messi IMO. It was just posturing in an attempt to assert his control and authority over the president. And it's worked.

I for one am not surprised in the least at this outcome, nor am I bothered. He isnt what the squad needs right now

They have to pay him a 70 million euro loyalty bonus if he stays. 70 million and half a million a week for a player who doesnt want to be there.

Messi extracted zero concessions from Barcelona, unilaterally surrendered the leverage he clearly had, and has emerged from the row with less than what he started with.

Great work.

And City would have forked out 100 million for an amicable outcome this year. That’s gone now. If he doesn’t extend which looks very unlikely it’s a bad deal for Barca. I don’t blame Messi. After all he’s achieved at Barca he didn’t want to get involved in a Court case against the Club. His vigorous attack on Bartomeu means the President doesn’t come out of this well. If we get Koulibaly and Aouar it’s a bloody good window imo.

He's a bottler, now it's over let's get the players we need, the money for Messi if it was ever there, should be used in positions needed.
As for Barca there on the decline and Madrid too hopefully

If it's over now that's fine. But they have one very expensive unhappy player on their hands.
Never good for both parties.

It’s not over - for messi and Barça at least- But for us? I firmly believe we only tabled our offer to him on the condition he was a free agent, we’ve done our bit and agreed terms, we don’t need to be involved further

Genuine question... is anyone actually arsed it's not gone through? I for one think it would have been great commercially but couldn't really care less.

Focus on what we actually need and I've no doubt we will tear it up next season on all fronts

I think most sensible fans think it was a nice to have option, we’re good without, we need to strengthen elsewhere and should crack on as we were before

I said it above, I think we got some good PR out of this, even if I am certain still there might be a twist to this.
Let’s see who is coming next week.
