I think it is now obvious Messi is not coming to City, so can we please concentrate on our weaknesses

Apparently Messi needs to make his decision. I thought the fax to Barca was his decision? All bollocks now. Move on and focus on other areas.

IF we were willing to spend £100 million on Messi we need to be spending that on an eventual replacement for Sergio

Cannot get Estrella Galicia on draft in Salford HDS, can get it in bottles in Weatherspoons. Leggy blondes depends on how much san miguel I've had - it tends to blur my radar.....

Agreed. Though I doubt 100 would cover it & Mbappe aside, who the fuck would / should we be looking at Haaland? Looks like a proper goal scoring nuisance but doubt his dad would do business with us?

Isn’t his agent Raiola?

If so then he is out of bounds for us I believe

I'm not quite clear how it's obvious, but okay.

Let's see how it all plays out.

I think it’s obvious we’re only going to sign him if he is a free agent, per his contract.

If Messi signs for us I will walk through the bogside with a union flag singing god save the Queen, somehow I don’t think I have much to worry about

Another twist in the tale, Bartomeu has just been accused of corruption by the Catalonian police apparently.

Catalan police force Los Mossos have claimed there is 'sufficient evidence' to accuse Barcelona president Josep Maria Bartomeu of corruption and personally benefiting from 'Barcagate' scandal.

Have they also accused the sky of being blue?

I hope we’re finished here - we’ve thrashed our a deal with him, it’s now up to him and his dad to get out of Barcelona - it’s a “nice to have” and not a necessity for us next season, press are already putting the term “snub” about so they’ll enjoy their time gloating but fuck those cunts

Pep Goes to Barcelona with Garcia and Puyol
Koeman is sacked and replaced by Xavi
Messi stays
We sign up Glenn Murray as a replacement.

We really need to move on (we probably are anyway) and get our main priorities sorted, the new season looms.

PS I do not at all think MCFC reflects bad in this at all, the club have been quiet all along and played it correctly.

You do notice the finishing thread?

Strange to me to say we don't need the best player in the world when we have fans crying about finishing and begging for a striker or to dump Jesus and whinge on about Sterling or worried that Aguero is injured every season and how that impacts goals.

Yes, we can survive without him and other concerns in defence - although I think Ake is an underrated signing - need addressing, but Messi would transform us to another level and we'd easily become the the most feared team in the world for good reason.

His presence alone, surrounded by the talent we already have would mean more clear cut chances and do you see how many goals the man scores? Aguero is not even on his level.

We scored plenty of goals last season did we not?
Did you not notice our considerable problems in defence last season?
The amount of league games we lost?
Messi would be nice in the short term but he solves none of our problems. The kids creaming their pants out there need to wake up and realise this. Yeah some fun with him for a year or maybe two, but we have greater needs at the moment. Its been said a trillion times what we need and that must be the sole focus.
Ake and Torres are indeed great signings but we need more, a lot more, and we need to get on with it.

It is probably all incidental as it looks like little Lionel is doing what he always really wanted to do, and that is stay where he is.

We failed to score on more than a few occasions and also squandered chances to win games, messi will be banging away those kdb chances but equally I also feel we should be spending the money on a clinical, younger, finisher

We do need a few more signings in defence, that’s not in dispute, but we definitely dropped points for not scoring goals when the chances were there
