Top priority for Jan?

Curious as to who everyone would sign if they could only add one player in Jan? I think we’re getting close to back and wouldn’t want to bring in a bunch of players again, but we clearly have some deficiencies in the squad as well.

Which one would everyone fix?

Guehi and a top central midfielder for me.
But don't expect anyone to come, to be honest.

Back up for Nico G, if we're never going to see Rodri again.

We're pretty fucked if Haaland gets injured

My guess is a few will go out on loan: Trafford (if rumours are true) or Ortega, and Phillips (my guess is he'll head abroad - Ajax or similar). I also have a suspicion that Khusanov could be shown the door through a surprise loan move, and I'd put Ake at 50:50. *If* 4 go, we're definitely a couple of injuries away from a threadbare squad.

Also, I don't know what the deal will be with Kovacic. He'll be desperate to get back into action to assure himself a place in Croatia's WC squad. I haven't kept up with loan rules these days, but if it's possible, he might head abroad (New York City?) after getting back to fitness. My understanding is that he'd have to be loaned out in Jan, but could stay with us for medical treatment before heading to the new club, but I could be wrong about this.

Regarding loaning out Khusanov it highlights the Pep Paradox, i.e. he can’t manage a big squad, but doesn’t like to keep the same team & likes to rotate, ridiculous even to suggest loaning out with our squad. Need to acquire a DM & striker if we are serious about a title challenge.

Agree.

So do I. Let's give him game time at rb if we are not getting one in January

I'd put a cheeky £60m bid in for Wirtz just to make the cult go mental

I think he is world-class.
If he is not a money grabbing cunt, it will be a no brainer for him if he had to chose us or the rags. Same as Donna.

Apparently there has already been dialogue between his and us, he has a £65m buy out that kicks in Jan..... rags, murderers, Chelsea and gooners are all also sniffing.

That said I doubt slot will be allowed to spend based on current form...

Guehi would be perfect for us. We'll need to move Ake on probably to accommodate him so whether that is in Jan or the summer who knows. But we can't let him go to one of the other top English clubs in Jan if we can get him instead.

Also need a more defensive minded central midfielder as Nico is getting over played now.

Agree with this, but I like the Palace guy Wharton good solid midfield player

I think we need a left back, Ait Nouri has been kept out of the side by an injury and a kid playing out of position, so that should tell everyone he isn't the answer. And as good as O'Reilly has been, he is young and will have periods of off-form and having someone more experienced will take the pressure off him.

Unless our plan is to deputise Gvardiol there, in which case, we need Guehi.

Also Semenyo, our attack would terrify everyone.
