Going into the final round of the league, the games that affect the CL are as follows:

Fulham v City
Forest v Chelsea
Rags v Villa
Southampton v Arsenal (marginally)
Newcastle v Everton

Now, as I understand it, if any of those games (edit: except Arsenal) ends in a draw, we're guaranteed CL football, and the worst we can finish is 6th (as Chelsea and Forest can't both overtake us).

Looking ahead to the CL next season itself, we'd be in Pot 1, due to coefficients (as league winners are no longer seeded, only CL winners). However, the pots themselves are less important now, because you play 2 games against clubs from each pot (including your own). Having said that, were the Rags to win the UEFA Cup, they'd quite possibly push Arsenal into Pot 2.

Of the 9 (yes, nine) teams still in contention for (or guaranteed) CL football next year, the likely pots for the CL (if they qualify) are as follows:

1 City: Pot 1
2 Liverpool: Pot 1
3 Chelsea: Pot 1
4 Rags: Pot 1/2
5 Arsenal: Pot 1/2
6 Spurs: Pot 2
7 Villa: Pot 2/3
8 Newcastle: Pot 4 (as club coefficient < country coefficient)
9 Forest: Pot 4

Don’t see how Arsenal drawing guarantees us CL spots. They are already guaranteed CL spot
