Joe Hart

Joe announces his retirement, were we right to let him go. I felt getting dropped by City was a mortal wound that shattered his confidence and he never really recovered. Was he binned because he was too big a personality in the dressing room or he had two left feet.
A good shot stopper apart from low shots to his left i was sorry to see him go. I'll always remember 93.20 celebrations

He was moved on because when we played Bayern and Pep was watching, Hart kept just booting the ball back to them allowing them to attacks us constantly.

He was right to let Hart go, he was wrong to bring in Bravo.

Agree Bravo wasn't up to it except for penalties

Oh aye. Forgot he’d been good with pens. Our second keepers always seem to be - Willy was good as well.

A great servant to the club and i am glad he got 2 prem winners medals.

That said, clearly not a Pep player on 2 fronts as mentioned, too bigger character and no way would he have learnt to play out from back.

Definitely in the top 5 or so Keepers in the clubs history.

I know he used to wind some on here up with buddying up to rag players and other oppo who was pals with at England.

I wish him all the best

Thing about Bravo was that he's only remembered for that debacle against the rags. He did have some decent games for us.

Perhaps we should've Carsonned him.

Which harks back to his ego, don't think he's humble enough for such a role.

Expect him to rock up as a goalie pundit somewhere.

What? He was the original King of 1 shot 1 goal. He was a ghost when it came to saves.

Hw got nutmugged for an Everton goal at his near post.

He also got sent off in the CL by storming out of his box and Walker had to go in goal.

Enough of that kindness and sentiment,.you'll have everyone in tears.

Good keeper for us, just crap with his feet and when Pep arrived his days were over.
Although there probably was a bit more behind his departure.

No reason he couldn’t do the Carson role for us. Then we’d have someone getting paid for fuck all that’s actually done something for us.

I didn't say all his games for us were decent, I said he had some decent games for us.

Actually quite a few fans were fed up with his tendency to find row Z with his clearances before Guardiola arrived. Vulnerable low to his left too. Still he had some great games for us notably against Barcelona. I wish him well.

Always thought he had a very high opinion of himself which you need, but; lacked humility. Great shot-stopper but that's what a gk should be? Limited all-round game for me and a fucking snake in the dressing room. Gone as soon as Pep walked in- absolutely right choice for us as a club. Best of luck in your retirement Joe

“He’s only remembered for that debacle against the rags”

He had more than one terrible game for us

the joe hart situation sums up how much football has moved on in the last 10/15 years
legends of the past (inc the so called great rag team of the late 90s/early to mid 00s) would struggle in the modern game
the standard required to be a top level player is so much higher than it used to be - i'd go as far to say that the current burnley team would win the prem in the 90s

You'll enjoy this one then mate
Hart to lose record:
Hart kept 109 clean sheets in 266 games, whereas Ederson has kept his 109 clean sheets in just 241.
So Ederson is about to write his name into the Manchester City history books, and it will be a brilliant thing because the Brazilian has been such a fantastic and important signing for the club.

Good

Hart was never ever going to fit in as he’s an old school goalkeeper and I hated his pally pally act in front of us fans with his Munchen mates after a Derby .

I loved Hart at city but felt Pep was right. Reminds me of DDG made saves but in most games kicked the ball straight back to the opposition.

That said he was important player for us at the time and a big character, he is a good reason we have pots on the sideboard and are were we are today so I will always have a soft spot.

He did an excellent podcast a couple of years ago with very honest assessments of his career and mindset.

Delighted he turned it around at Celtic after what nunes did to him at spurs. He is abs good enough to be a second choice keeper and as others have said would be a great Carson replacement(even tho there prob same age and carson aint ever giving that gig up!)
