Manchester City have completed a remarkable 2023 by becoming the first English club in history to simultaneously hold the Premier League, FA Cup, UEFA Champions League, UEFA Super Cup and the FIFA Club World Cup.

FIFA Club World Cup, 2025: Impact on MCFC
The prize money for this tournament has been declared to be Euro 2.5b with an initial Euro 50m for each of the entrants plus 100m extra for the winners. City and Chelsea have been given automated entry by virtue of their Champions League victories. There are 2 automated English entry places and there then follows a further 10 European places. Liverpool and MUFC miss out on the seeding

The remaining 20 golal slots come from South America, Asia and elsewhere and include clubs from Canada, North Africa, Saudi Arabia, New Zealand, Mexico and so on. The competition comprises 8 groups of 4 with each team seeded with the first 2 clubs going through to the knock-out stages. There will be a maximum of 7 games for the winners with no play-off game for 3rd and 4th places.

The winner could pick up Euro 150m for winning this tournament. It is not clear what additional TV money could be. There will be a lot of uncompetitive games in the opening group games. This is about building the game and extending global reach.

The biggest impact may be further away, with the penalties for potential Premier League points deductions or fines diminishing in terms of importance. In 2024/25 City could be playing in the EUFA Champions League, FIFA Club World Cup, FA Cup, League Cup and the Championship. That would diminish the victors of the Premiership. We could also choose to cheaply exit from the League and FA Cup.

The Club's transfer policy would probably need to reflect a broader reach.
