I'm a bit baffled with the gvardiol statement because I was sure that was the kind of role we bought him for
I guess there might be a difference in what we hope a player could do in a certain position compared to what he can actually do in said position.
Phillips being a case in point.
Gvardiol is a class defender and so there are no worries with him there. If Pep and the recruitment team saw in his game qualities that suggested he could play in a different role, in midfield for example, then it might be a while before he learns that new role competently enough in training before we try it out in a match situation

That’s precisely what Pep said. He certainly won’t be playing in midfield against Chelsea.

Ake can, though I'm sure we arent compelled to replace Stones role exactly

I'm loving all these pulling out of the international squads. Ake, Ederson and Kova so far with Stones already and presumably remaining out. Rodders, take note mate

Has Ederson pulled out? Pep apparently fuming he came back so late last time. Think Ortega played the next game
