Must say, I was a little worried about tonight after the exertions of midweek. Missed the majority of the game but sounded like they only gone near us when we gave them the chance, such as Rodri’s back pass. He was the one who looked knackered at the end, does a lot of work.

Can’t complain with that. 6 points from 2 difficult games. Do we get a bit of time to train now?

Tired at 75 ? no we were not tired , just resting. We still took the game to them to the end. This Fresh legs thing is a myth. Playing eleven with no subs tells the opposition we are strong , strong enough to play without making changes. I like it a lot - mind you , i played football before there was such a thing as Subs.

No cheating, but they were fucking thugs.

I thought the rags were "columbian" early against spurs but barcodes were another level as you said earlier, they're lucky to have finished with 10 if not 9!

I need to see the red cards from the other 3 games to judge how fouls this season are going to go.

We got lucky we didn't get any injuries and karma for Joellinton fucker.

Phil, kova, rodri, akanji all very good.
We looked a bit leggy at the end but a brilliant 3 points given the hassle of mid week.

MacAllister's red in the scouse game was no worse than any of the unpunished Newcastle fouls.

Well pleased with that, excellent team effort, well done blues against a well drilled physical side

Anyone know what Pep's tshirt post match was about?

Looks like a footie manager and maybe chairman celebrating.

Apologies, my planner includes commitments out of my control. Couldn’t last and fucked off to the car for a break to find out the line-up, only to learn that ‘Man Utd’ were losing to Spurs, 2-0.

Absolute bonus but to get in and find we’re winning the game, against a real rival for top 4, made it an epic day.

Knew it had to one of his go to people, didn’t realise that the bloke was an extra-hero that had just passed away.

Love Pep.

Even this early this felt like a big win.

Kova is quickly becoming a favorite of mine with his line breaking passes.

Foden immense.

Akanji much better than other night and Gvadiol settling in. Great goal by Julian too.

Big win!!!

We have some real good players, going to be difficult but we can go on to win this league … again!

A great result under the current difficult circumstances. Very impressed by Kovavic, what a great addition he is. Man of the match for me if not for Foden who was sensational.

I agree

On reflection this morning, this was a fixture that given the circumstances could have gone very differently. A barcodes win could have given them and the rest of the league hope that we had lost our edge from last season and that we were there to be shot down.

But the way we won was immense. We barely gave Newcastle a sniff of goal despite them dismantling Villa so impressively the game before. We controlled the game. We mixed it up and Big Eds passing was executed brilliantly. Dias and Gvardiol were rocks. Kovacic looks very impressive. Foden excellent. A lot of positives. And the reactions of Pep and the players at the final whistle showed they knew this was a big statement as well. Its early doors of course but the hope the media had been harbouring that we would be complacent and lose our hunger already looks completely unfounded.

Think he'll fit in well. Got to say we have some big lads in our team now and they can all play.

Alvarez was very good last night, some of his touch play was superb. Love him.

I have two minor concerns. Haaland positional running can be better , he runs too straight and his shooting boots need polishing a tad.

Grealish needs to shake off his holiday booze. He seems to be running into defenders and he doesn't hit many 'clean' crosses or shots, they always seem to get deflected or blocked

Error free so far in three games and saved Rodri's blushes plus 2 points last night with a turn of extra pace that bodes well.
