“I’ve had six incredible years at Manchester City and I’m delighted to extend my time here,” Bernardo said.

“Winning the Treble last season was extremely special and it’s exciting to be part of a squad where there is such a hunger and passion.

“Success makes you want even more, and this Club gives me that opportunity to keep on winning.

"I love the manager, my team-mates and the fans and hope we can share even more great memories in the coming years.”

Also he’s got a big increase in his package so it will be much more difficult to prise him away. I’m sure Pep played a big part in persuading him.

Anymore rumours about the buy out clause from next summer? I heard it’s £50m but has to be paid in full at the time of sale (probably to stop Barca being scruffs)

Makes the contract pointless if he has 50m release clause. All we have gained is bernardo getting a pay increase for a year. Even if we kept him(not that anyone could afford him) we would have got at least 50m next summer.

That aside, great news to have him stay, my money is on him being our player of the year this year.
derby day the scores were level,
then the goat was fed by neville,
silly boy should know for sure,
feed the goat and he will score!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Not at all pointless, the new contract will assuredly benefit both parties. The existence of any release clause, its value, its timing, its terms of payment etc are all unknowns and will likely remain so unless Silva leaves before 2026. The wishful thinking of Barca & PSG client media will no doubt continue but only as a source of amusement or irritation depending on our mood.

I agree. If £50m could have told him to just suck it up for two more years and go on a free. He’d be 31/32 and we’d have had his best years. It’s likely he’ll be off now next summer.

Would have tested whether his Benfica dream was genuine or just horseshit like Walker’s Sheff Utd nonsense
