After what we did last season what do you think?
If so, who is your pick?

100% Haaland, after breaking every record going and winning the treble, should win it.

Anyone else that wins it and it confirms the competition it a joke.

I imagine Messi will win it because of the world cup.

Now he's gone to the US it he won't be considered any more I don't think.

Agreed though - it has to be Haaland based on his stats and achievements last season

22/23 Messi 39 Goals 25 Assists
Erling 56Goals 9 Assists

Messi World Cup - Erling CL and treble.Got to be Erling for me but you can guarantee he'll be 2nd.

How can it not Erling, new league, scores 50+ goals, smashes untold records, wins a treble, hopefully have another European trophy to his name on Wednesday

It will be criminal if he doesn't

Why is Messi a contender this year?
I keep on reading because “he won the WC”. That was last year.

Why now?

The award used to be based on calendar year, but since 2022 they changed it to be based on the season.

They should have the award in the summer then really - but daft.

Like having last seasons PFA award 2 weeks into the new season

Simply put, he has moved to the US and will not be getting any more - tick, he finally won the WC- tick and most important of all, awarding it to him makes him the outright owner of the most of these awards(I think)- tick - fucking shambles but akin to giggs winning PFA POTY in his retirement season despite playing about 2 games

Are you sure? What if Grealish wins it?

The irony of Messi rinsing the French PSG and winning the best player to satisfy the bent bastards in Paris truly defies logic. The Parisians live for a riot !! If ever there was reason to not that I’m advocating it. But come on he jogged about for half a season and now plays in the retirement league. Even Van Gaal has suggested Messi was gifted his WC legacy.

Messi wasn't even top scorer at his own club last season and got booed by his own fans.
Erling was top scorer in Europe, got a Premier League record and helped his club to a fairly decent season.
Travesty if it's anyone else.
