Cheers JC

Some interesting points in there. Allison being effectively the first pundit and calling for back passes to be outlawed back in 1970. And that we were lauded for our youth set up even more so than the rags and that we made decent profits consistently. Makes our malaise a decade later all the more galling

Here's another interesting article from Andrew about the formation of the club - looks like Anna Connell's vision is at risk ;)

The Connel story has been disputed for quite a while now JC.
A few years ago on here, I questioned why, when I was a kid, City's foundation date was always stated as 1880 but later changed to 1894. I wanted the 1880 date reinstated.
Gary James asked me to stop as he was researching St Mark's activities pre 1880 but hadn't at that time found conclusive proof of an earlier date.

The major problem for City historians has been that much of City's archives were destroyed in the fire at the Hyde Road Ground in the 1920s.

It was the accepted account for quite a while John, even got us an airing on BBC Woman's Hour. Times certainly change - we'd be lucky to get a Man's Five Minutes on there these days
