What's our young superstar done wrong? Something must have happened, I know Pep has a bit of a love in for Mahrez and Jack but fuck me sideways Phil should be a starter in the team most weeks.

Somethings got to have happened.

when i saw the thread title i thought this was a ‘yaya toure, what does he do exactly’ rant, which tbh i could get behind. foden has been shit this season. that is the real reason he’s not starting imo. stones, bernie, akanji, ake all played more minutes than him at the WC, and pep has no issue starting them.

Unsettled defence constantly tinkering with the attack = inconsistency which is what we have. Hardly rocket science is it

Spot on. Most other clubs stick with the same team, but according to Pep we’re the only team this WC has effected so we need to swap players constantly.

Consistent defence and we’ll be okay

Couldn't understand why he wasn't brought on 50 minutes in.

For me he hasn't hit the levels consistently that he showed glimpses of 3 years ago. Is that down to him or the way he has been coached? We'll probably never know

A very good player, undoubtedly. But he isn't going to get to KDB levels IMO which I thought he would

Er Hat trick against the rags ?

give over, we have a very , very heavy schedule coming up.We need our best players available . Jack and Mahrez will soon be bench warming .

There was enough out there today to get the points against Neverton.

Do you think he has reached the levels we thought he would when he broke through? Genuine question.
As it seems he does blow hot or cold

Yes, Foden hasn’t been great this season. However….

Some players are allowed to play themselves into form - Mahrez (or not, as he’s proven)

Pep doesn’t seem to want to allow Foden to do that. The fact he’s played out of position, on the wing, for most his City career and still looked one of our best players is amazing.

If foden has been shit then what does that say about grealish and mahrez’s form this season ? Laughable .

Pep has his favourites and I reckon he is vindictive - I feel sorry for Gomez - should never have signed him but when the manger has literally free reign over who he wants he can discard them and buy someone else.

It is what it is .

Pep - “Lately, as I get older, I mainly look at the body language. In the training sessions and everything. You cannot play good when the body language is not correct.

"Sometimes you choose the players for how happy they are. That is one of the main decisions with choosing the line-up, because with the skills, I know how good they are
.”

Benjani would be starting every game. Happiest guy I’ve ever seen.

By that theory Kolarov would never have played.

Just fucking change shit Pep. Settle the back line, play Phil over Mahrez and let's get back to winning ways.

I bet Alvarez keeps on warming the bench and plays a few mins here and there.
Arguably one of the main reasons why Argentina won the WC and he’s our bench warmer !!

I’d have him and Haaland starting every single match.

Foden
Haaland
Alvarez

Should be our front free every match, when fit, for the next 5 years

Nothing. Should play every game until he plays shit, then play him again and if shit, sit him on the bench.

He rarely has two bad games, even one is down to movement.

Took his goal very well today

Otherwise not his best performance, but he was more involved than in the last 4/5 games for us. Usually plays well in the derby too, so expect a good performance v the rags
