Manchester City have announced plans to expand the Etihad Stadium's capacity to host around 60,000 spectators.

The Premier League champions want to add at least an extra 5000 seats in order to become the division's third biggest stadium, and qualify to host a Champions League final in future by reaching UEFA's strict capacity quota.

Where's that from?
It's not on the OS.

Don't think we'd be the 3rd highest on around 60k.
After the swamp both Tottenham and West Ham are over 62k. Arsenal are just over 60.

Assuming this expansion means north and south stands will mirror each other.
That would look decent.

Even better if they could fill in the corners as well

I am not s structural engineer but to me looking at it from the outside ot looks like that could mean major surgery.

Nor me, but it's got to be simplified by the fact that the roof isn't supported by the stadium structure, but by external pylons.

Great, the demand for tickets is getting ridiculous.

True it is for key areas and big games, but still see people getting rid at short notice and tight blues waiting to get the absolute cheapest ticket. So many were flogging dortmund for some reason

The plans were out 2 or 3 years ago weren't they? Maybe even 4. It meant moving the shop - as I will nostagically call it.

That age limit seems a bit over cautious.

I won't be allowed in 6 years.

Use to loved The South Stand noise - although I was <40

What a fukkin idiotic post!!!!!!!!!.......

Never forget that it was those old fogies that actually founded and developed the old Maine Rd Kippax stand into one of the loudest and intimidating areas in the league.
As Mike Summerbee said; He saw opposing players visibly wilt when they had to play in front of it....Such was the intimidating atmosphere those old fogies made.

Compared to then, the current noise is often only created when the team's performance excites them.
When the team doesn't excite, often the only chant is a sort of whinging "Come on City" or realtive silence.
