Here is the place to talk about all things city and football!

Rhetorical question. Unless someone here works for UEFA or the Spanish La Liga, or has any info.
Completely broke, running up to 1 billion debt - Financial fair play, lack of financial management?
Signing players but cannot register them under Spanish FFP - why is this allowed by UEFA?
Reported bribery attempt to UEFA, to pay them (haha) to prosecute rival clubs City and PSG on trumped up charges. Is this being investigated?
Previous case of Barcelona (+Real, Osasuna and 1 other) guilty of using public/state funds, ordered to repay - did this happen?
Considering all the fuss made over an alleged City sponsorship of about 10 million quid years ago - you'd think Der Spiegel would be all over this lot. I'm sure there's a lot more that don't come to mind right now.
Thoughts?

To be fair to La Liga they’re the ones stopping Barca from registering their new players until they’ve cleared some money. They’re actually enforcing the rules set for once.
Uefa should be all over this though, as they would be if it was City. This “selling future TV rights” why couldn’t any club do that and just spend £500m in one window? Where does it stop?

They even tried to get Champions League money for future years in advance until it was pointed out there was no guarantee they’d qualify.

Farca continue to take the piss with Uefa's blessing. no way would we or a fair few others get away with the same. they have been financially mis-managed for years propped up by the state. All was good when Leo was in his pomp, but losing him really hurt them. I'm hoping this last throw of the dice goes pear-shaped as they are on the brink if it does not come off

I hope they go under. As a kid my mum and dad would buy me Barca kits when we went to Spain most years. Now I can’t stand them. I couldn’t imagine putting either of my kids in a Barca kit on holiday.

Each Spanish club is assigned a spending limit, which includes outgoings on wages plus the amortisation of transfer fees. Barca ended last season with a cap of -€144m, the only negative limit in LaLiga.
The cap is, in basic terms, the result of the club's revenue minus its operational costs and debt repayments for the upcoming season.
Barca's soaring debt -- gross debt remains over €1 billion -- has seen their cap fall from €600m a couple of seasons ago to -€144m at the end of 2021-22, making the financial levers essential to be able to invest in the squad this summer.

Then there’s this extraordinary story. Worth a click.
That's amazing - they are effectively paying capital gains tax on their own money.

Galácticos - Real Madrid as well, long before 'sports washing', 'state ownership' and 'oligarchs' ruined football.
When RM funded galácticos with dodgy dealings and state sponsorship it was welcomed by all.
Of course it was never referred to as sports washing and state ownership.
The way of the world.

Sport.es is reporting that Frankie De Jong has been asked to take a salary cut of almost half. They want him to stay, but....................
His contracted salary adds up to 22m euros and neither he or his agent wants to contemplate that cut. Farca are agreeing fees with Chelski and Rags, both of whom would of course match his current salary.
But Frankie is comfortable in Barcelona, had a decent season and not keen to move (least of all to the Rags of course).
Legally he can just sit there on the same salary.

How can any sane person ask you take a multimillion pound hit ?
Are they that fucking stupid that they think a player will just say ‘oh go on then , seeing as it’s Barcelona ‘!!
Bernardo needs a frontal lobotomy ti want to play there !!
THEY SAY SWEARING IS DUE TO A LIMITED VOCABULARY. I KNOW THOUSANDS OF WORDS, BUT I STILL PREFER "FUCK OFF" TO "GO AWAY"

Bernardo said last summers desire was to be closer to his family (after all the lock downs and travel restictions during COVID. His family are in Lisbon.
The "his mrs wants Barcelona" stuff appeared to get mentioned at some point and has since been taken as fact. I don’t recall this to have been said by Bernardo or his GF.... in fact he said last December he is now happy because she has moved to Manchester
Happy to be proven wrong though.

Barcelona is on completely the other side of Spain to where Lisbon is in Portugal. How will it be more accessible to get there? He’s still going to have to take a flight.
If they wanted to be close to family then he’d move back to a Portuguese team. That’s all the proof we need.
And if it’s not for family reasons what is it? Is can’t be for footballing reasons - he’s already stated he loves the club and how much they do for him and the rest of the players.

If she's that keen on living in Barcelona, I'm willing to pay for a one way ticket for her - on Ryanair

2 current stories on Sport.es (in Spanish):
1) Cruyff would be ashamed if he saw how Barca is conducting itself
2) The motives which led to Sergio Gomez leaving Barca

On another note Mundodeportivo tells us there's 51,000 tickets sold already for Farca v City
