Now that Rodri has gone back to being turd after a handful of really good games, what are our options for DM in the long term?
He’s only 18 but I know the club has high hopes for Roméo Lavia. When do we start to give him a chance?
Is there anyone out there that would be a good option to buy? If this thing had happened to Chelsea 2-3 years ago we could have gone for Kante but it’s probably not an option now. Jorginho again?

Far too harsh on Rodri. He’s had a good season.
https://twitter.com/cityreport_/status/ ... 96261?s=21This is the story of the day though. Ruben apparently back in training.

Day by day I am more convinced Rodri is not a defensive mid, but more of a Yaya type of player. He really can't defend, he really is slow in tracking back and most of all he doesn't know how to break opponents and be a dirty fucker.
We've been spoiled with Fern.
Lavia is not going to get game time and we are not gonna sign someone, I am sure.
One of the bizarre things about us, I guess.

The season finishes in May mate. If he continues with the poor performances until then he’ll have had half a good season and half a poor season.
Ultimately though he’s not the answer for us as a DMer.

Possibly the pressure is getting to him. Good point.

Probably being a bit harsh on Rodri RE: the handful of games comment. He’s saved us against Liverpool and Arsenal - but he’s not a DM and that position is integral to Pep’s system, possibly the most important piece of the jigsaw. Rodri isn’t it.

Declan Rice? Every time I’ve seen him he’s not been great and would be £100+ million!

I said it in another post. Declan Rice and Haaland and we're unstoppable

You are harsh, I don't recall you criticising Kolorav for his abysmal performances

He's nothing like Yaya- the amount of times he was 10 yards outside their box the other night and always looked to the side or backwards. The goal Yaya scored at Palace in 2014 was typical Yaya. Drive forward, a 1-2 and put it away

I’ve yet to see him have one.

Even though Rice would be £100M+ there’s probably nothing to say we couldn’t do them both in the same window seen as though Haaland will be £65m.

Not like Yaya, but similar that he feels more comfortable up in the middle.
He has some shot in him even, Everton's goal comes to mind, and fantastic ball control.
The point is he is a good midfielder to have when you build up a play, not when you need to break teams.

We're not programmed to defend the old fashioned way, we could buy the best DM in the world whoever that might be and still have same issues, our wingers are more attack minded. Our defence is based on keeping the ball which is effective most times, when we struggle to keep the ball we tend to struggle a little.

Get a CF the rest will look after itself. Rodri is a fine player, is there better probably.

Don't think that's the problem, but more that he doesn't have a back-up.
I don't see Fern staying.

A CF handles everyone a free pass Kane has had a shite season, but if he keeps scoring they are in with a real shout of finishing 4th. Who remembers Nuno or Kanes 6 month break. We lack that killer Haaland Lewdowdski do that, all day,

The CF doesn’t stop opposition counter attacks. Like I say, that DM role is probably the most important in Pep’s system.
We can still get a Striker and go for a DM in one summer.

Funny enough that exactly what a Kane does he drops into a naughty area in and around the holding MF which as we saw just recently fucks up your shape he spins gets on the back stick and we know the rest. World class centre forwards make up for short comings Mase. Boatang at Bayern must have watched Lewdowski pull him out of the shit every week.
