Hypothetical question

Let's say that CR7 did join us this season.
Given what you've seen this season how do you reckon he would have gone? Would we be where we are on the table? Would he have fit in? Did we dodge a bullet?

Firstly, I don't believe that we ever had any intention of buying him, and I'd go as far to say that if we'd have been offered him for nothing we wouldn't have taken him.
IMHO, it was yet another example of us making noises to panic rags. They don't call us noisy neighbours for nothing you know.
However, if he had have ended up here, I imagine he would be used as a late impact sub in games we were struggling to score in.
Which I'm sure wouldn't go down well with the ladyboy ego, and would probably end in tears.
I can't see Pep using him in any other way

There's a great article from Martin Samuel today stating that while PG would have changed our formation to accomodate him the sticking point was the rotation and the fact nobody at City is bigger than the club.Pep is quite happy to leave KDB on the bench for a league game and he as the best player in the PL for the last 2 seasons is happy to accept it. He does it with them all and they all accept it without question. That's why the tranny transfer was a non starter.

City are a group of stars who understand the biggest star at any time is the TEAM. That mentality only allows for players who think like that.
The trannie is a self adoring God who can only play in a team where a team of trannie minions plays for him...He is the team, the others are there to feed his ego and adore him.
The rags are more than welcome to him.
For them he is a commercial asset his role in the 1st team is secondary.

I actually think he’d have done well but we’d have been worse if that makes sense?
I think he’d likely be our top scorer and lots of people bemoaning our letting one more goals and blaming the defense. That first line of press from the attackers is so vital to how we play.

The only press that the Trannie knows anything about; is his adoring media reporters and the ones who print over the top pretty things about him.

How long is his contract with the rags?

2 years I think. Possibly an option for a 3rd year.

I would have any of our attacking players in the team ahead of him.
He's only capable of scoring against shit teams with poor defenders.
We have plenty who can do that. He wouldn't have been any benefit whatsoever. In fact the opposite is the case as we can see now where he is a wholly negative influence.

Ronaldo is not thick and he would have adapted to our setup.
He would have changed his attitude, accepted rotation and worked hard because he would have a great chance of winning pots and enhancing his legacy.
Once the Rags went in for him he had no choice, he had to join them instead of us. History dictated that.
Pep would have innovated and tweaked our system to fully utilize Ronaldo's greatest attribute - clinical finishing (with head and feet).
He would also create space for the players around him. In whatever system Pep dreamed up to accommodate him he would be a goal machine.
For those who say Ronaldo would not fit in our current setup, I ask this, two years ago could you imagine us playing without a center forward, without a focal point up front, without an out and out goal scorer and being successful? The answer has to be no.
Pep innovated and made us better but he still wants a target man. We bid for Lukaku and Kane.
IMO we would be better with Ronaldo. A lot better. Good enough to make us clear favorites for the CL.

That is probably the only option left for him.
His time is up.
With Pep's brilliance and surrounded by our players he may have got this season and possibly one more at the top table.
Without the above supports he is gone. He can no longer do it against the top (and very good) sides.
All that is left for him is to milk the commercial side, trading on his reputation before the fat lady sings.
I think Messi may be in the same boat.

Can't agree with you at all. A Ronaldo up to a couple of years ago much as we hated him was one of the best ever but that player has gone.
He was at a team last season where you would have thought he'd have a great chance of winning pots. They came 4th and were desperate to get rid of him.
There were a lot on here who said the rags would be a major threat this season after they bought Sancho. Tranny has ruined that for them, throws his toys out of the pram repeatedly, does nothing against good teams and looks like he's alienated sections of the dressing room.
Love it, long may it continue.

Too old, too expensive, disruptive, slow! I wouldn't want us building our team around him. Footballing wise, no no, commercial wise would make sense.

Interesting thread daz.
I was only thinking this when watching him sulk around the pitch for the umpteenth time last night.
He made a huge mistake going to the rags IF it was a choice between us and them.
His career is now going to fade out with a whimper, along with a few tantrums and possibly a big fall out with the club he was meant to rescue. It's perfect.
Would he have improved us? I thought so at the time, but now I think we'd have possibly scored less and conceded more.
He made a mistake.
We didn't.

Dodged a bullet
But I honestly think we were ever seriously in for him.
But if he had joined us....
We would still be top of the league. He would have scored a dozen or so goals. I doubt we would control games the way we do with possession and with the focus of ball retention. He definitely wouldn't have played every game and would have likely kicked up a fuss.
His salary would cause friction in the dressing room but we would have sold more shirts and got more sponsorship.
I for one am glad we didn't get him and likewise, Messi before him. We are a team of 11 great players all pulling together towards the same goal. He is an individual player, who on his day is quite brilliant but those days are becoming more infrequent, and isn't out for the team. You only have to look at the rags to see this. Indeed, as I was browsing redcafe last night for comedy, they had started a thread about much the same thing inasmuch as "is he worth it". And the majority response was that he wasn't.
The whole package for him spells disaster, on and off the field. So the longer he lord it at the swamp the better

Fair points and it could easily have played out that way if he had joined us.
Thank goodness we will never find out.
