Why do the officials who are supposedly at the top of their game allowed to get away with such shocking decisions. When I was a soldier we did ops and always had a debrief after and if an individual had fucked up he was told about it and told what to do about it why doesn't this happen with these people???

My guess is that it is a cultural thing. In the armed forces, though I have never been a member, the people who the staff are answerable to have been brought up through the ranks with a culture of not making mistakes, and if they do then making sure they learn from their mistakes and not doing it again (I'm picturing Nathan Jessop giving somebody a good talking to here) to save themselves from getting shot in the head or whatever. Referees are all answerable to former referees, who have been brought through the ranks making shocking decisions because what is the worse that happens? The press say you made a mistake then quickly forget about it, or the crowd call you a wanker for half an hour. There are no consequences of failure. The clubs do nothing about it, because naturally all your bad decisions are to the benefit of 50% of those involved.

The simple answer I guess is the governing bodies dont want a transparent refereeing system. They are happy with the way things are. It creates discussion points and it benefits who they want it to benefit

Otherwise the system would be changed. And the fact it hasn't for decades speaks volumes

Unfortunately they were all bullied as kids, so they need to fuck up their jobs so that when a manager shouts at them they can show them a yellow or report them. It makes them feel better about having their head shoved down a toilet and still being a virgin at 44.

Mate, the older I get the more I shake my heat at what happens in civvy street (ex RN)! However the blatant corruption and cheating that goes on needs to be addressed and rectified before the game that we love is lost forever.

For a start, transparency needs to be instituted and control taken away from Riley and his cohorts and given to a governing body that is fit for purpose.

There is simply too much money involved now. The idea that we now have s sinister organisation PIGMOL answerable, as far as I can see to no-one speaks vilumes. Add to this VAR and there is no end to the mischief and manipulation. All designed to keep a couple of red noses at the head of the trough. The boards of these organisations are littered with red syncopaths and so it is little wonder that the already institutionalised red media don't point of the flaws. Bent as fuck but too many kick-backs are being given and people don't want to rock the boat and lose what is in effect, free money

The bigger question is why do the “smaller” clubs not make a big deal about it? They get fucked over in favour of Rags and Scousers - so why not make a big deal about it? Come together and have a meeting with the appropriate body and ask them why the blatant and obvious decisions go against them when playing rags and scousers.

That is my take also. Sure, the fans can moan, but the clubs will not and will turn the other cheek for a share of the pie.
What comes to mind is what happened with the takeover of Newcastle from Abu Dhabi. They rejected it because they don't neet another City to shake the system down.

Firstly; salford city. Bang on the money there. I can't fault any of that. Mase; You're absolutely right again but again it comes down to blatant corruption. It's a bit like when Sunderland used to sign the worst United players earlier on this century and lower league teams getting both of the Red shite's up and coming reserve team players. If they kick up a fuss then there is no chance that these players will be sent on loan to them.

Plus for some bizarre reason these feckless entities are viewed as the Premier League's Golden idols. Though fuck knows why as they are more suited to the realms of history.

All perfectly good points. Ferguson is at the Bottom of most of the skull-duggery. Him and that snake Gill realised early on just how much of a leg-up SLY were going to be as they made the red shite poster boys for the new product. Cannot blame Utd or SLY, the armchair fans were and still continue to lap this shit up.
The money rolled in, Utd raped teams for the best talent following the German rag example and the cycle continued. Ferguson and his team became all-conquering, chipped away at scouse's haul of titles and eventually, passed them. They were the people to know and the likes of Fat Sam, Arry et al in the main got into bed with them in the hope of a few crumbs from the left-overs. Make no fucking mistake Utd do mot want us at this party and you only need to see how they have joined forces with their supposed hated enemy aling the east lancs to understand just how much it means to them
Fuck them, we keep on carrying on winning pots despite all of this - not with the leg-ups that our illustrious neighbours enjoyed and it is breaking their tiny little hearts.
What makes me smile the most is that the glazers have played a blinder with the troll - the fans love him and now they have the Portuguese back, they have shut the protests back up as well. Got to love that, long may it continue

Spot on, if memory serves didn't the GPC recall rag players on loan at Preston when the club fucked his son Darren off

He certainly did Harry. salford city had his finger right on the pulse with this one and puts the point across far more eloquently than I ever could. Ferguson has a lot to answer for in my book and when the old cnut passes you watch all those skeletons come cascading out of the closet.

Posted this in the scouse 2 matchday thread in answer to a similar question but it fits well here, too:

The manipulation of results in favour of a select few (best for profits) teams has gone on since the PL was formed. It is a business so, as is normal in any business, the owners want to protect their investment and keep their biggest-selling lines relevant as much as possible. The formation of Pigmol, with its closed-shop unaccountability, allows them to get away with this behaviour. It's unfortunate for the rest of the fans that the business these crooks chose to invest in was also our national sport. With the billions involved, no sports journalist is able or willing to do their job properly and blow the lid off this corruption.

As others posters have detailed it is business pure and simple. Football is not run by football people, it is run by business people whose only interest is profit.
Sky have invested billions. To maximize their return on investment they need the Rags and Dippers at the top.
Because they have the biggest global fan bases, generating the most revenues (Sky subscriptions, internet clicks, merchandise, day trippers, etc...) so they will be protected.
A successful Leeds or Villa or Leicester or whoever harms revenue flow. Your average Indian or Chinese fan is not going to spend as much if the Dippers or Rags are mediocre and situated in mid-table.
English football sold it's soul when they sold the broadcast rights to Sky. That is when it was no longer football and became a business. What had happened since was depressingly predictable.

Indeed, also, they promoted so many times as ”the best league in the world”, but many teams did fuck-all in Europe (except the big ones, of course). Sky really limited competition in the league and for the likes of Forest or Preston winning the league became close to zero. But again, business. Same as la Liga in Spain, with the influence going to Madrid and Barcelona.
How many teams we've heard the Spitter or Ratboy saying the VAR decision before it was actually communicated?

Same as UEFA, there is a cartel, a cartel (for our luck) that let their guard down when the Sheik came, thinking we will be just a dust in the wind, not here to stay. With Newcastle they decided to eliminate the problem from it's roots.
With the business, there is an agenda with the media that goes worldwide. How many times we've heard plastic fans with Chelsea and us? Did you know that people still say "the sheiks" when they talk about us worldwide on tv shows? Media transformed history = trophies and so on.

Football is a business and corrupted. I have no idea when this happened. Maybe it was Sky who took over, maybe when Champions League was born instead of the European Cup, but something along the way killed the game in favour of some.
But, IMHO, who controls the media controls football and decisions.
But somewhat, I do not mind that because no one will tell us when won things by cheating. We won everything facing and beating the corruption.

An incredible achievement if you ask me.
