This is the well regarded Barcelona journalist who was giving a lot of good information on the Messi situation and knows La Liga.

Why you think that? 80-90m at least for him.

There were reports at some point that he has a release clause, but I think before he signed his extension.

I have no idea about this Kounde fella, to be honest. It looks like another back-up target like Rodwell and many more.

The better Sevilla CB. Glad we didn't go for Diego Carlos.
Him and Upamecano have a high chance of being the France CB pairing of the future

He's a highly rated young defender by those who watch La Liga.

Just because we don't know him doesn't mean we overpaid. They wanted his release clause which was 30 mil more.

We DID get a player for 20m. Ferran Torres.

The same reason Thiago went to Liverpool for below value, because they were in the last year of their contract.

Koulibaly is signed through 2023 and Koundé 2024.

Real Madrid have been interested him:

https://en.as.com/en/2020/07/28/footbal ... 20721.html

The French player has formed one of the best central defensive partnerships in LaLiga with Diego Carlos, who has also surprised with his displays over the course of last season. Zidane has been impressed with Koundé's tactical mind and intelligence as well as his positioning and speed- a quality which Real Madrid look for in a central defender. Madrid hold both players in high regard although Zidane prefers Koundé as he is young and can only improve

No one has signed Upa for a reason. A lot of clubs have been sniffing around but I haven't heard a thing and there must be a reason. I think the fee must be insanely high or he wants to wait to go somewhere else, not us, next season who cannot afford him now.

No way is Kounde Rodwell level or that level of panic. Stories we were looking at him have been swirling for a few weeks now as an alternative to Koulibaly.

I like getting him more than Koulibaly actually and we should be glad we can tell Napoli to do one.

He's more proven than Rodwell ever was, Real Madrid have been interested and he started on the team that won Europa League. He also had a good game in the final.

I think we wanted someone with more experience who we hoped could adapt right away. That's the main reason i think we wanted Koulibaly.

Kounde has more potential and would really dampen the blow of losing Garcia, although he wouldn't be HG.

I don't know, I watch spanish football, but can't remember him, but looks like he was a back up for us.
However. there are two good things for me:

1. He is younger
2. We can say fuck off to Napoli

Agree! I think this would be a very good alternative signing. I just said it but I will again. I actually prefer Kounde.

I'm not entirely sold on Koulibaly as THAT great, even if he's an improvement, especially for the fee. The expectations and pressure will be very high from the UK media if we fork over what Napoli want.

And once again...Napoli can do one. Love to see that.

Read/translate some of the posts from that tweet and you see PSG fans sounding jealous and others saying he'll be sold for a massive fee in a few years.
