MotM v Palace

Postby Beefymcfc » Sat Oct 19, 2019 6:31 pm

A team game today, can't split a few of them performances. Defence gave them nothing and with the midfield finding their feet, thought it was an impeccable display whilst under pressure to keep track of the Dippers.

Pep did well, also.

Would've given it to God's own if it weren't for that ego trip of his. Going with Dave now.

Seems I'm in the minority, but David for me. Ederson was superb when needed too.

Hmmm, for me it's mainly about the second goal Merlin was outstanding but the KDB part of that we've missed so so much on the counter.

Big Ed

Loved seeing him yell "what the fuck" at the defence. Picking up the language

Yep, two very good saves but didn't have another save to make in the game.

Went with Dave, seemed to be everywhere, even dragged the defender away for Jesus to get his header in.

You can only do what is available and Ed did it all
It may be my last year as a season ticket holder as it just doesn't seem the same with so few English and local players (but I said that last year)

Our keeper made a total of two - yes, that's two - saves. Yes, they were both fantastic, and yes, either could have resulted in a goal if he didn't intervene. But that's his job! Other than those, he was a bored spectator! To make him MOTM looks like Palace had a chance to nick something from this game, which they didn't. They were lucky their keeper had a blinder (8 saves, all pretty good) to keep it respectable. Otherwise that elusive 10 was a possibility!
We have people on here moaning about us not taking our chances instead of crediting the opposition goalkeeper for saves/defenders for blocks, then give our keeper MOTM for doing his job. Doesn't add up for me. Surely that's just the oppo strikers being shit? ;)
Therefore, it's Dave all day for me.

The funny thing is if he concedes either his ability is questioned. Boom or bust for keepers.

Whenever Merlin plays the question re MotM is always who has played better than him? He is such a magnificent footballer and for me the man who nakes us really play. One or two were good today but I don't think anyone was better than him. Of course two top saves from Ederson kept the clean sheet but he didn't need to do a great deal else.
