The 2017 World 11

55 nominees and, yes, you've guessed it: none are from City. No Silva, no de Bruyne, no Aguero, no Jesus, no nothing.

The nominees are all the usual suspects from all the usual teams.

https://www.fifpro.org/news/list-of-55- ... rld-11/en/

There's only one possible response to this - go out and win lots and lots of silverware and stuff this popularity contest down FIFPro's throats.

Manchester United are the best represented Premier League side, with six players - Romelu Lukaku, Antonio Valencia, Paul Pogba, David de Gea, Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Nemanja Matic.

From BBC.

Well, there's proof that most professional footballers are thick as a brick. Anyone voting for Kane ahead of Agüero is either a team mate or a bonafide buffoon. The same goes for e.g. Ösil ahead of Silva.

It's just a popularity contest based on the 25,000 professional footballers' favourite teams, nothing more.

I'm suprised anyone voting for any rag besides de gea can even figure out how to use a computer (especially pogba or valencia)

Valencia is the biggest head scratched on the whole list. He was better at Wigan than at United for fuck's sake. If he played for any other team in the league players outside the Prem wouldn't even know who he is.

Really?

I think he's a decent right back. Especially at going forward. Not saying I'd sooner have him than Walker, but I do rate him

One of the best 55 players in Europe?
For me he blows hot and cold. He's got better since transformed to a wing/full back, but is he better than e.g. Coleman?

I endorse your winning big logic, JL, but it's still weird to see a player from a certain Merseyside outfit, which have won less than Pompey over the last 2 decades, named ahead world's envies such as David M. Silva and KdB. ;)

FIFPro's tops

No he isn't one of the best 55 players. Not IMO anyway. But is is in the top 3 right backs in the PL over the last couple of years

Good article. Sets out the case very well.

I can hear a new chant now:

Our players are rubbish
And we're top of the league

Mind boggling isn't it.

Yaya
Silva
Mendy
Aguero
Walker
DeBruyne

None of these make the cut.
