Great question. Does caretaker manager, ie Ryan Giggs, count?

Vialli I think. But did he also play when he managed Chelsea?

I'm guessing it would only count if he played whilst being caretaker boss. Don't think he did but stand to be corrected. If so then Vialli is the latest. He took over from Gullitt who was also a player manager who himself succeeded another in Glenn Hoddle.

Lombardo was at Palace at the same time as Vialli was at Chelsea.

Just looked it up and Giggs indeed did play. He apparently subbed himself on v Hull in the closing stages for his last game for the rags.

If this unacceptable rouge answer turns out to be correct it should be struck from our blue pages.

Gary Monk was certainly appointed as interim player manager of Swansea, but I'm not sure if that was still the title when it was made permanent. If so it would have been Monk.
I don't think whether the player/manager actually played is pertinent, it's the job title.

Monk was appointed interim player-manager on 4 February 2014 and became permanent manager on 7 May 2014.

Giggs was appointed interim player-manager on 22 April 2014. His last appearance was on 6 May 2014, but he managed another game, on 11 May 2014. He announced his retirement on 19 May 2014.

Looks like it's the adulterer.

But the point is, when he became permanent, was his job title player manager, or manager?

I suspect it may have been the former as he signed another contract in 2015

Wish Roberto would have subbed himself on during the last few weeks of his tenure. Would have shown more desire and fight than most of the team combined at the time.

He is, isn't he.
Ryan Giggs is an attention seeking fucker as well.
Sometimes we're good and sometimes we're bad but when we're good, at least we're much better than we used to be and when we are bad we're just as bad as we always used to be, so that's got to be good hasn't it?
