They must have recruited Kevin Keegan as an advisor ;)

Jake Livermore joins WBA from Hull for £10m. Bang average who I doubt would get into our academy team.

The elephant man has lured Henri Lansbury to Villa from Notts Forest. A decent player at that level could be just what they need.

Saido Berahino joins Stoke for £12m from WBA. Potential to be a good signing

Filth sold Depay to Lyon for 21 mil + add ons.

For a player who played 8 games this season. Just 4 league games.

BBC report it as £16m with the add ons taking it to the £21m. You just don't know who or what to believe these days. Either way, it's a lot of money for a guy who has done the best part of fuck all for eighteen months

Fonte moves to West Ham for £8m

Would a signing like this for the price really have been worse business than Mangala or Otamendi?

I've read somewhere (it might have been Yahoo Sports or MuEN) that it was £14.7million for starters, then plus the 'add ons'.

I agree. Has a lot of talent.

I don't know why Pullis didn't sell Berahino to Spurs last season, at least. He has cost them loads of cash. I think they were offered £25m.

I get that he wants to send a message, but is it really worth that much?

If he had been playing he might have helped England as well, as he has the quality to make the team from what I've seen.

Watford sign Zarate from Fiorentina and Niang from AC Milan.
More forwards to add to the bunch theyve already got

Ighalo will surely be sold now. A real flash in the pan last season. Shame. Was quite exciting to watch during that run of games.

Payet gone back to Marseille for £25m + a sell on clause of 25%. Good business by the hammers to get that for a player who wanted away. Didnt seem to be a queue of clubs wanting him

Overrated in my opinion.

When I saw these rumours earlier I was thinking exactly the same. Good piece of business dot hammers I think

I rate Fonte as a decent defender, but you have to take into account whether he would be able to perform in our system the way he did for Southampton. Ultimately, he is just too slow and a very short term signing. Good for West Ham though.
I do think there's plenty better business to be had than Otamendi and Mangala (I'm not even sure I'd use the term 'business' to describe the latter, it has more of a 'receiving a bumfucking' character about it), but, while both of them were misjudged to a certain degree, at least the ambition was there to sign a player with mid to long-term in mind. I think most would class Demichelis as a good piece of business, but how long did that last? He was about Fonte's age then, needed half a season to adapt to the league/team and was finished another year later. A top team can do this to plug certain squad holes and cover transitional periods, but finding a suitable 33 year old every two years cannot be the long term plan.

Speaking of Southampton, I hope to fuck we don't go for Van Dijk. I have a feeling that he would fail spectacularly here.

Looking at all these names up there, it makes me appreciate even more what a monstrous defender a fit Kompany was in his pomp. Strong, quick, able to carry the ball forward. It's easy to forget sometimes after his recent calamitous injury-ridden period.

There was only one club he wanted to return to (he even took a substantial pay cut), so any queue would've been irrelevant. West Ham did well enough though, as Payet turns 30 in March.

Moyes must be clearing the decks prior to them being relegated.

Wolves sign Helder Costa permanently from Benfica for £13m. A lot of money for a Championship club. Maybe there's legs in the rumours about the £11m bid for Mooy?
