That's pathetic, even for the FA.

How would this stand in a court of law I wonder?

He might try claiming that his Human Rights are being violated if the FA persist with this 'trial' i.e, Under Article 8 of the Convention, everyone has a right to freedom of expression without interference from public bodies.

Moreover, Article 6 of the Convention entitles everyone to the right of a fair trial, so you can make of that what you will.

Finally Article 7 of the Convention states that there can be no punishment if the 'crime' is not set out in law and only punishable under that law.

It would all be completely fatuous really but Sagna could have a lot of fun by this going into the public domain and the stuffed shirts at the FA might shy away from any unwanted and potentially adverse publicity.

Then again, the FA aren't exactly renowned for having a sense of humour...... :( :( :( :(

Should have gone with the away support but being the twelfth man compared to the home support.
They'd have lapped that up and the media would have gone with it.
We'd have known better though.

Are we going to take a stand?

Our club really accepts all of this nonsense over and over again and the message we send is a poor one. Fuck us as much as you want, we will accept it.

Thought crimes are real. I think.

What are the precedents for this type of crime?

I'd read previously that he may face a fine but now I read in the kneejerk that he will be banned?

3 games at least for a City player.

I'm hoping the defence will include videos of Mason's finest moments in that game, copied to media.

Can't find a precedent, managers usually get fines or bans but can find nothing for players.

It's an escalation for managers isn't it? First fines, then bans for repeatedly questioning the referee's integrity.

'Corruption' by refs - media sources/people never use that word.
They are very careful to use/say: ref got that wrong, ref ruined the game, etc... but never ref must be 'corrupt'.
I always thought it strange. Some ex-players must have an axe to grind, etc...

So honest comment is repressed through fear.
That is what is happening to Sagna.
Anybody who steps out of line will be sorted good and proper.

Repression always collapses in the end.

They cannot give him a ban it was not during the game, on the pitch or even in the ground so it will be a fine (not that i fucking agree in anyway with what the cunts are doing to him)

As for suggestions of civil rights, i think that is clutching at straws...... The FA are the governing body of which the players are "members" of and more likely in the 1000 page T&C's that players sign up to there will be something about "bringing the game into disrepute" which is an ambiguous a statement as you can get....

The wankiest thing is that some cunt would have told the FA about his tweet as i doubt they themselves have some bod sat there scanning 1000+ twitter accounts of professional players.

It'll be a fine and he will pay it and the he'll be careful what he tweets in future.......

I think it's mentioned by someone in one of these threads, that invariably lead back to a conspiracy or agenda theme.
The one thing that the anti-agenda camp have in their favour is where are the whistle blowers. Where is the smoking gun.

It is true. If there truly was a conspiracy of the proportion some people believe, it would be very hard to keep a lid on everyone, from players to managers to officials and of course the media.

I do believe there is an agenda that is purely financially driven and it is people's livelihoods and possibly the threat to them, that may be keeping them in check.

It still does seem very hard to have everyone towing the line though and you would imagine something would have to give eventually.

The likes of footballers and managers can be kept in check while they remain in the game or if they plan on remaining in the game after their playing career ends.

Seems to me to be more difficult to keep a hold over ex-referees.
There are only so many of them that can become Sky pundits.

It's a strange one. As I truly do believe football is bent. Is it possible that the only reason it hasn't been outed is that it is not in the medias interest to cover such stories and any such suggestion is quickly buried and discredited.

I still think that is a precarious position for the media and they who hold the purse strings to be in. It wouldn't take much for someone to break rank.

So why do we not have whistleblowers?

Problem is we spent from about 1979 to 2008, nearly 40 years FFS - being shite, and not attracting any new supporters or admirers that weren't related to mugs like us.

So there is no swell of City sympathy. Quite the reverse. Dippers then the Evils were producing winning players/pundits, trophies and hordes of 'fans' most of this time. Most of the media and refs have allegiances elsewhere, so City have to be really, really good to get praise or to be treated on anything like an equal basis to those clubs which these muppets grew up admiring.
