Yaya, an olive branch?

Be honest. If on Friday someone would have given you a bet that Yaya would start today's game and not only that, score both goals, you'd have remortgaged the house and bet everything against that occurrence.

Have bridges been mended with his inclusion and will we see more of him over the course of the season? Or was he just put in the shop window to remind suitors he can still play?

I wouldn't bet against some 'behind the scenes' apology and grovelling from Yaya's agent, which has brought about today's events.

This. I don't mind Yaya playing the odd match, it will benefit the both of us.

Potentially the best sub/squad player in the league

Deep, deep, deep inside, I hope that finally, the last period of time, hit his huge ego.

He remembered he used to be Yaya Toure and wants to show the world one last time how big he really is.

He is still better than many of our other midfielders. I've said it loads of times, he knows how to unlock a stubborn defence, which is something we've struggled with recently.

When his passing game is on, which it was yesterday, he sees options so quickly and makes passes so accurately, it is beautiful to watch. Still ambles around looking for space rather than pressing, mind, so it'll be interesting to see if or how he figures in Pep's plans against teams that offer more in midfield.

I'd say that's a fair assessment

I'm glad he's back. He has a role to play in our squad given the number of matches to be played this season.

Pepe should also avoid judging players based on his previous experience of them in different circumstances.

He's not on a squad list. That's what started this whole thing. I think it was a the Everton match I sat there thinking we could really use Yaya. I'm glad to have him back.

this. the only reason he was in the squad, let alone played, was because Ilkay and Silva were in need of a rest after the international break.

Pep and Yaya agreed on one thing: the 'What does Yaya Toure actually do' thread needed revitalising. Job done.

But... but... he's a Muslim and doesn't drink and is famous for causing the Premier League to introduce a rosewater and pomegranate drink as an alternative Man of the Match award for Muslim players.

Someone must have slipped him one.
