"Remember where we've come from.."

Here is the place to talk about all things city and football!

"Remember where we've come from.."

Postby Mase » Sat Nov 05, 2016 6:13 pm

Can this shit stop being used as an argument against people that are pissed off when we don't win.

Some City fans ('Jane' called up GMR on my drive home which kicked this off) are starting to sound like rags and scousers with the amount of 'we were in division two not long again'. Forget about history!! We're here NOW! Stop going on about 'we've come a long way blah blah blah'.

With the players and manager we have now we can't keep using this as an argument for when we don't win.

She obviously doesn't want to see confrontation between fellow Blues.

Now let's all gin-gan-gooly ;-)

Or when Sky decide to dress rag fans up as City fans outside the ground like they've previously done.

Wasn't there a picture of a rag fan in his rag top and in the next frame he had a City shirt on being interviewed by Sky.

Anyway, let's not forget where we've come from, eh ;-)

Remembering where we came from is important. It should mean we're a lot more appreciative of our success.
And it should make us less like spoilt rags.

But that's remembering it.
Not fucking using it as an argument.

This is it. I love thinking about Gillingham and Blackburn away. Brilliant memories. But Terry Cooke isn't playing for us anymore so we can't keep saying that to defend not winning!

I hate all that remember where we came from bollocks, I would rather forget a lot of it to be honest. I grew up with the rags lauding it, obnoxious cunts, who wants to remember that shit.

It is an argument that winds me up. I'm all for those of us who were there remembering it and it being part of who we are as fans - Dickov's knee slide is my season card image.

But our poor performances in 1998 have nothing to do with the current side. We've not even got any players left from the Ericsson days, let alone Frank Clarke

Where we have recently come from is 5 trophies in six years, that is our yardstick.

Exactly. We were champs in 2012 and 2014. We were only in the third flight for one season, and that's a long time ago. Onwards and upwards.

Interesting that people would take that lightly. For fans it was a huge deal. In reality, that was the biggest year of our life.

I can tell you now, I wasn't laughing.

My view is one that you take the rough and the smooth. Most of my early years following City were of us being poor with two relegations in four years. Then we went down to the third tier for the first time in our history. Our local derby was Macclesfield FFS. Gradually we got better and back into the top flight.

Then came the Sheikh and the rest is well documented. Success is following success and the club off the field has grown exponentially to levels we could only dream a mere decade ago.

We have been crap when I have followed City and we have been amazing. I for one don't think our present success will last forever. I think it may be a long time before we fall to the level of say Everton and I can't see relegation happening but if and when it does and we go back to clapping the winners, then so be it.

I am enjoying the success we have at present and I am probably enjoying it a little bit more because of the tough times I've known before. Today's draw really pissed me off and it probably pissed me off more than a draw would have done a decade ago because dropped points now mean more.

Was it Ian Brown who said "it's not where you are from that matters it's where you are at"? Well, we are at the top at the moment and let's savour that whilst we can
