Well apart from providing the pass to Iheanacho to equalise against the Saints, that's about it.

Oh and teeing up Iheanacho for the fourth against Monchengladbach, that's about it.

Looks pretty impressive for a 20 year old. Tries to go past people and has some serious pace. In couple of years this boy will be a star.

I wonder do we have to look for someone to pick on? Having seen the likes of Gerry Creaney, Barry Conlan and Jo, I would've thought anyone today is a God

He is in the same place now that Sterling was last season.
This guy has huge potential.

No he isn't
Sterling last season already had two PL seasons under his belt and had played in excess of 50 games. The Bundesliga is not the same pressure cooker the PL is.

He has got huge potential and all the attributes needed to make this happen, which is why we spent big money on him. I happen to think he will prove good enough and hope he is given time to do so, a point which i made earlier in the thread

Get slagged off by our fans already?

20 years old, not speaking very good English arriving, injured as soon as he started training, following a hefty transfer fee, and experienced some challenges getting his chances when the competition is fairly stiff...

Remember Raheem...

Needs more time to adapt and learn. Not worried by a long shot at this point. There have been glimpses of what he can offer.

The games he has played he has shown glimpses of what he can do and is about. He looked lost in the League cup game a bit but that may be down the team selection. He looked immense last season and i see no reason why that form wont return in due course.

Two weeks ago people were on Gundogans case, not any longer. I say give the boy a decent fist of it before writing him off. That said, Roberts at Celtic is proof that if you are good enough you are old enough. Age is only an excuse for so long.

Looks like he needs to beef up a little as well. Appears a little lightweight for the rigours of the PL. This can soon be solved

A fair-minded, objective post NB.

He just needs a bit more time and then any concerns about him will dissipate.

With regard to him appearing to be a little "lightweight for the rigours of the PL" however, didn't a few people say this about David Silva when he first signed for us ??

They did, and he learned to toughen up quick. Look at him the tackle now, quite feverish. I dare say he put a bit more muscle on his chest and shoulders. When footballers take off their shirts their bodies are very different to that of players even a decade ago. Some would look quite tasty as middleweights. Defenders as well are much stronger now and thus attackers need to have it their armoury. Sterling is as good example as any, he is a tough little fucker and can dish it out when necessary.

He didn't "learn" to toughen up real quick he just always was obviously.

Virtually zero bedding in period that you're trying to describe.

He's been the boss since he landed.

Cheers

Did anyone else think him being the first sub on Saturday was odd? I thought he was just working his way into the game and was making a real impact.

A bit, thought he was playing well but we were at risk down our left side when Willian came on so Pep went for a defensive switch bringing Clichy on to shore up that wing ( that went well ). From a defensive point of view who else would he have subbed before Sané?

Not quite, but we do have two of his sons.

He sliced through the Chelsea defence more and more as the game went on and it was a pity he was withdrawn, but as FIBJ said, it was deemed necessary to deal with Willian (didn't work out too well that one...)

He has serious turn of pace and that game will have given him a lot more confidence. I think we might have an incredible player on our hands.

If we can get both him and Raheem on to a consistent level and capable of playing in the same team, we'll have lots of fun watching them rip teams to bits.
