They were actually pretty kind to us again I thought.

Gary Lineker was generally upbeat and Ruud Gullit, claimed both our penalty was legit and that it bodes well to not put in one's best performance and still win.

Loved it when Pep said he wanted to improve Aguero and Linekar looked at Gullitt and Keown, raised his eyebrows and wondered how can you improve him as he is pretty much the best striker in the PL already

14 - Arsenal.

To match that we will need to beat
Spurs Away
Everton home
Southampton home
West Bromwich away
Middlesborough home
Palace away
Burnley away
Chelsea home

If we do all them then it's Leicester away for 15.

Wonder what the odds are on that. I think if we get 3 points against spurs it's actually do-able. Especially if we get to Chelsea at home and everyone knows it's just beat them and match the record.

Would be amazed if any side beat that record these days. It's eleven in top flight football from the start of the season as an aside. Spurs in '61

14 points dropped out of his last 43 league games I think it said

One thing did bug me is the lack of admiration for the truly world class first touch for Aguero's first...I thought they might drool over that...otherwise they were pretty complimentary.

it was specifically commented on in glowing terms by commentator Pearce in the post match interview on the bbc website but left out of the clips used on MOTD and ignored in the analysis.

This was the type of touch that Henrick Larsson used to excel at. Looks like a heavy touch but creates space and time from the defender allowing you to turn and face the goal. Excellent from Aguero as usual.

kammy on Goals on Sunday had praise Aguero's touch for that goal and the way he took 2 defenders out of action in one movement and had high praise for sterling too for his performance

so whats happened?

its still the same squad. in fact, now we've got Ilkay, Sane, and Sagna healthy which they weren't at the begnning of the season. plus Yaya is back in the squad now too.

people are complaining about the defense...well it was the same group back then. its become increasingly difficult to score goals; we were scoring goals back then with the same squad. people are saying the squad is spineless and they dont care. well it was the same group during the 10 win run and i find it hard to believe they started caring less after winning 10 in a row.

Pep was still tinkering back then and the players were less familiar with his new system.

Was it just that the competition during this run was poor or has Pep, for the time being, been figured out by the opposition and now he hasn't adapted yet.

Nolito was dropped.

Seriously though it's not just that but even early on in the season I said we are a better team with him in it

Every league game he's started we've won.

Need to go back to the inverted full back system we used at the start of the season with two wide players playing high in support of striker. This restricted opposition space through the middle on the counter as we had more bodies centrally in our defensive third and it also stretched back fours of the opposition meaning there were gaps to exploit.

Since the extra midfielder was introduced we've clogged up the centre in attacking areas leaving very little room to operate and our wing backs are in a kind of no man's land, not contributing enough in either defence or attack.

He's only started 3 from 8 in the league since his ban, WBA, Palace and Burnley.

Not only has Nolito generally played well this season, he brings balance to our attackers.

With him on the left, it means Sterling is on the right and KDB in the middle.

Otherwise both Sterling and KDB are played out of position and they're not as effective.

Exactly, it's the first time in years we have a genuine balance and genuine width to the side, arguably since Bellamy was in the team and yet Pep fucks about and completely unbalances us for some reason.

Is he trying to turn them into Ribery and Robben, but a younger version who cut both forward and backward?

so then its Pep trying to wedge Gundogan into the team...because that's what's dropped Nolito (not exclusively of course)
