So open wasn't it? End to end stuff with minimal midfield pressure.
In the 1990s when Football Italia started on Channel 4, that was one of the things that struck me then.
All sides seemed to defend on the edges of their boxes and there was loads of space in the midfield, allowing play to go from end to end. I enjoyed watching Fiorentina's play at that time - mind you, having Gabriel Batistuta in their side certainly helped.
Don't know what happened since then until now, but it was so different from English football when most sides played 4-4-2 and crowded out the midfield but without the guile and tactical know how to get round this, unlike today's Prem.

West ham losing at home to Southampton. The move to the Olympic stadium really hadn't taken off in the way the hammers thought it would. Bilic will find himself under a spot of pressure soon if results don't pick up.

I'm surmising he was dribbling about in his own goal area, parading his ball playing skills for all to see.......especially Pep ??

Indeed.
Is it too early to be talking about a relegation fight ??

Probably. But results don't lie and it isn't as if they've been unlucky. They have been soundly beaten a number of times already. The next six or seven games, both for West Ham and Stoke, will be crucial for them if they don't want to get dragged into a relegation dogfight. If either are still in bottom four or five after 12/13 games then it's time to get concerned, not least the managers who will be fearful of a call from the chairman

3-0 at the end. Luckily for West Ham not many of their fans were left in the stadium to see it

Burnley has started strongly, but I have a feeling that they will tire and that Watford's individual quality will be decisive.

1-0 Burnley. Nearly a second from another set piece. Plenty of set piece goals this season up to now. The changes in giving penalties for shirt pulling and grappling at these set pieces has clearly made a difference in how teams defend them.

Anyone who watched MOTD2 last night already knows that, as gobby Robbie droned on about it for what seemed hours.

Didn't watch motd2, but I applaud the new directives. I wish the refs in my Sunday league would take note. I'd probably score 5-10 more goals a season if it weren't for shirt pulling and pushes in the back.

Yes. Piss poor games and also not that much goals so far this evening.
But a cracking game. Aubaboomerang is amazing, but I find it hard to think where we can fit him at the moment with Serge and Ian scoring week in and week out.

No point in speculating about him.
