MotM v Swansea (EFL Cup)

Postby Beefymcfc » Wed Sep 21, 2016 8:42 pm

They got much better as it went along and there could be a few that get the nod tonight.
In the words of my Old Man, "Life will never be the same without Man City, so get it in while you can".

Garcia. The only one to play well in both halves for me.
Tracking back is overrated.

No objection that Zabba got a vote only saw last 75% of game but he looked up for it. However voted for Garcia
It may be my last year as a season ticket holder as it just doesn't seem the same with so few English and local players (but I said that last year)

I think there are some blue tinted specs. Garcia made more mistakes tonight than we have for the first 8 games. He also made some quality moments and had great composure under pressure but he wasn't amazing tonight. I have seen him boss games for the EDS, maybe the occasion got to him a little but it's fantastic to see him rewarded for his good EDS performances.

Agree with that WW but would still give him MOTM
He fits Pep's style. This will give him confidence.

The whole team were quite sloppy in possession, I voted form him as he did everything. Blocked shots, scored, created and defended. An all round performance from a youngster was awesome to watch.

I agree with that but he probably still was our best player tonight.

About right. Tough ask to come in with all changed midfield. The "regulars" are all top top class and have a first touch to die for.Well at least Silva, KDB and Gundo with Dinho up there. If he had played with 2 or 3 of those he would have fitted in seamlessly but with Angelino ( who's first touch was more like Edin) and Fernando it was never going to be easy.

He did misplace a few too many but I liked the way he was always available and mostly got his passing right. Best of all probably was the composure he showed which helps a lot. As WW said we have seen it often for the EDS and to show those same qualities tonight was great to see.

Contrary to the slagging he's got on here, I thought he had a decent game.

Vinnie was very good defensively but not so great when he had to pass and make the play although that pass inside the full back for Sane was quality. Great to have him back and I just hope the injury is nothing despite fearing it's the end.

I thought he was looking quite comfortable Doug. Was calm and playing well. Playing well within himself also.
He gave some terrible passes that were over ambitious for somebody who was just back after months without football.
I didn't see it as anything other than rustiness though.
The same as could be said for some of our first team that got back late from the Euros. I just thought give him a few games and he'll get match sharpness.
I certainly didn't think he was playing badly. Nobody was really shining last night. Which is one more plus as far as I'm concerned in the way a Pep team's ethics carried us through regardless of the personnel.

I hope Vinny is ok. But it didn't look good, whatever his reason for walking off. The lack of communication with team and management doesn't fill me with confidence.

I thought he was reluctant or at least hesitant to go wide when Willy had the ball, I think this hindered us when trying to play out. Like you say, these things are ironed out with match sharpness but the way it's looking he may never get that.
