Clough junior won a number of caps I think but Lee Johnson's is the greater achievement, he won an impressive 5 caps for England C while playing for Yeovil.

True, but with Joe Mercer we bucked the trend - the best English capped club manager of all time in England! (Clough, Revie & Cullis are the only others in the frame but, Clough apart, their cup and European honours are inferior) Joe had more England caps than Clough though and was a much nicer chap :)
I think some might want to give Keegan an honourable mention.

No English manager has ever won the Prem let alone played for our country at senior level. The last to win the old first division was Howard Wilkinson 28 years ago and the last England capped title winning manager was Cloughie in 1978.

I knew that Bravo was bad; heaven only knows what this 'keeper was like when this result occurred.

Great question by the way, JC. :D

Not a wartime match, not against the Old Etonians or during that era, in fact - here's a big clue because it is so difficult - it was in the 1948/9 season.

Well, I've trawled through my Gary James (not a euphemism), and it wasn't a League or Cup game

It happened, despite Gary's prodigious record keeping. I did say it was exceedingly difficult - give up??
