Shame he's still on there in the last knockings at 8-0 after 75 minutes against Belgium. You could almost suspect they are trying to get him injured.

Apparently Merlin is now Spain's fifth all time highest goalscorer.
Not too shabby for a midfielder that we moan about not scoring enough.

and truthfully he was blocked from playing in that midfield until his mid 20s so imagine if he had been a first choice at 20 or 21?
