Foxtel coverage of the Premier League in Australia

Here is the place to talk about all things city and football!

Foxtel coverage of the Premier League in Australia

Postby Ironpot » Tue Aug 23, 2016 3:34 am

I've just had a "discussion" with the Foxtel sales guys here in Australia. They've lost the deal to broadcast the live EPL games and are fobbing us off with delayed coverage. However the last night's Stoke match ( broadcast at at 1 am ) was the Steau Bucharest match from last week and they have no plans to rebroadcast cos the have contracted with City TV for only 3 hours a week.
In the meantime they have set up separate TV channels for Chelsea, LFTV and MUTV using their content 24 x 7 !! Why the disparity? he tells me City TV is way behind the rivals. I dunno bout that but we have got a rough deal here at the moment.
Just letting you all know!

That's because we don't have a channel. City went down the website content route and I'm pretty sure that the channel is a mix of games and website content.

Optus won the rights and are giving pretty good coverage. It's nice to be able to watch any Prem game at any time.

We're in the bush and only get 50 or so gigabytes and the speed isn't great. Now I have heard this I might investigate satellite. The guy from Foxtel said Optus wasn't working well - I'll take it that was bollocks then?

It works very well. But I live in the city. Watching it is reliant on having broadband.

Check out what your Fetch TV options are.

NT you could do with some time in the bush. Sort your melon out.

It's robbing bollocks, but they got me. Wish the twats had got the other comps so I didn't have to pay both sets of pricks.

I hear you mate. Could've done without the additional monthly spending on Optus but at least the service is excellent and the App is very useful to watch matches anywhere anytime or catch up.
Still need FOXTEL for the Champs Leage and Cups !

Optus tv services about 30% of the country know it all.

Yes but only about 5% of the country has people. $5 a month for the Fetch TV mini box means I'm actually saving money as Be-In is now included on Foxtel Sports rather than an add on. Will level out next year when the $15 Premier League package charge kicks in but the on demand service means will be getting more for the same money even then.

I'm newly into a phone contract so we had to switch Internet which thankfully was due. Costs an extra $30 a month than our old provider and then the $5 a month for the fetch mini they sent us. So $35 a month and now have to have two different ways to watch footy. Not the an ideal outcome for me, especially since I would have welcomed the chance to bin foxtel.

Lastly if you're gonna hold the premier league hostage to force people to convert their contracts to you, would you not have extra contractors ready for the start of the season? 3 week wait for us. Joke really.

ta for the advice Daz
So I trotted down to see the Optus shop:
EPL satellite set up $250 but its a one-off and I'm happy if the technician turns up to fit it.
EPL subscription $15 per month

Foxtel have reduced my subscription to $35 per month till christmas.

So I'm assuming I'll end up with 2 satellite dishes and more remotes than you can shake a stick at!

One thing is for certain. The fetch remote is nowhere near as functional than the Foxtel option.
