It isn't a huge stretch to assume he got in touch to say something along the lines of "great news about your appointment. Can't wait to have you here, heard so many positive things. Is there any aspect of my game I should prioritise so I hit the ground running when you get here?" This is something I would do and I'm sure I'm not alone. Maybe he isn't very bright or had a high enough opinion of himself that he thought he his game all there. But Hart must surely have looked at goalkeepers Pep has deployed and realised distribution is key, yet he has done nothing about it.
As I've said before, I like him, but his time has come to end with us it would appear. Wish him luck at his next club
I remember reading in Doug's training reports that Hart never really worked on his distribution in training. Was a couple years ago (2012-ish), so that might have changed for all I know, but I found it shocking back then already. If he had the drive to be the best and cement his legacy in a side that just won the title, he would have stayed behind and clocked extra time to work on his major weak areas, but he didn't. He became complacement instead. He even needed a kick up his arse and some time on the bench to shake him up. I can't remember that happening to the likes of Buffon or Schmeichel. It was clear that he would never become someone who would be considered world class or one of the greats of his generation. A very good keeper, no doubt, but very much replaceable. It is happening now and I am not surprised, even all politics and his weak Euros aside.
