They really are pathetic today.

In the 'old days', they would have put some freezing water from the ice bucket onto his foot, via the 'magic sponge', strapped it up, let him have a few drags on his woodbine and then sent him back onto the pitch.

You're right Mase, they're absolutely soft today, not like we were..............

Seriously though, the win at Bournemouth has turned out to be a bit of a Pyrrhic victory and a lot now rests on Sergio's shoulders.

Perhaps also time for Nacho man to step up and stop sulking too.

You do like to get an obscure word into almost all your posts MC, I've given up 'googling' them now

Woodbine? That's the one I'm struggling with at least.

Woodbine is an English common name for a sweetly scented climbing plant, also known as honeysuckle (Latin genus and species name; 'Lonicera periclymenum' :? :? :? ).

Crikey, when I was a kid and my Dad used to send me to the corner shop for twenty woodbines, I always thought I was buying him plant seeds.

Never been a smoker myself, as well ZC.

However, when I was at school, on Monday nights I used to go to the local Chess Club still in my uniform and that place was like a Turkish opium den with the variety of exotic cigarettes being smoked.

There were two Polish Chess players there who smoked sickly perfumed cigarettes of some description, plus pipe smokers and others with some really strong blends. The atmosphere was thicker than a London smog and I used to walk home 'reeking' of cigarette fumes.

Next morning, back at school, I would often get suspicious looks from a number of teachers and, on more than one occasion, I was sent to the Headmaster's office to explain myself.

Chess matches against other Chess Clubs and County matches for Yorkshire against other Counties was a similar affair, just on a larger scale somehow (cigars seemed to feature more strongly in such encounters).

Thankfully, things are so different today.

Seriously though, the win at Bournemouth has turned out to be a bit of a Pyrrhic victory and a lot now rests on Sergio's shoulders.

It was only the other week that Pep was telling us about his dilemma of which of his six centre-forwards to pick. At least life has been simplified a little for him now.

My grandparents smoked Woodbines or Park Drive if they couldn't get any. Horrible things (the fags, not my grandparents).

Interesting he opted for the knife and doubled his recovery period - Pep no doubt had a say in the decision.
