Ginger McCain was a great trainer but could he have coaxed a Grand National win out of Mr Ed?

I wouldn't mind giving Klinsmann a go but no doubt the braindead FA will hire Southgate.

Psalms old, same old. A clean sweep is required, hiding behind the manager will produce yet another false dawn.

Maybe beefy but I think a cohesive set of tactics with players knowing whats expected, and a licence to express themselves within that framework could see england become a dangerous opponent again. Hopefully there are managers out there who are thinking clearly about what they would do and see it as a challenge to change the path taken rather than an easy gig to pick up a few mill before retirement.

At least his abrasive style would be offset by the players returning to their clubs between matches - I bet he could do a decent job of it.

Terrible idea, and Shay Given agrees.

Maybe he's what they need. He wouldn't be with the players for long enough to fall out with them...

Think he would do a good job IF he was allowed to.

I reckon he'd be a decent choice. It depends, however, on how much of a 'Yes Man' the FA would want him to be. Would he have to mollycoddle the likes of Lallana and pick players to appease broadcasters and sponsors, or could he drop players who simply weren't up to performing the way he wanted?
