Looks like the FA have interviewed Bruce to justify their positions and make it look like the selection process is a selection process. It shouldnt be really, because only Allardyce is a realistic fit for the players England have to choose from. If Eddie Howe is still bournemouth manager in two-three years time having stabilised them in the prem and maybe spent a year at a bigger club and carried on his trajectory then theres your successor to Allardyce. Sadly our game is still mired in short termism so if he is bottom of the league in december theres a chance he'll be out of a job and deemed a loser.

I have a sneaky respect for him - he doesn't pretend to be something he's not with his teams so we might actually see him play to their strengths.

I'm all for Big Sam as well. Will probably do better than any English manager over the past 20 years, which isn't saying much at all.

Huge plus is that Noble, Drinkwater, Antonio, and the rest will probably get a look in finally.

The position of 'England Manager' has been around for 70 years. 11 of the 18 people to occupy that position will have occupied it in the last 20 years.

Good luck to BFS. He's paid his dues as they say and has a half decent record as it goes. Will be interested to see his first few squads.

No point, just interesting how rapid the turnover has been of late. However, I suppose that's the way it is in football across the globe these days.

Funny quote of how terrible of a manager Hodgson is from Agger:

I completely lost my desire to come to work because his training sessions were really hard to get through. Not physically but mentally. It was the same and the same and the same. Day in and day out.

Often we had eight forwards playing against me and Martin Skrtel [apparently to let Fernando Torres score to regain his confidence]. Skrtel and I had a really hard training session as we were defending against eight with two but the eight players attacking were just faffing around. They had hardly run a kilometre and it was so uninspiring.

This man got paid 3 million/year...

Just what England needed and in some way an admission that we are the once Bolton of international football.

BFS will get the best out of this current group and I'm looking forward to him going head to head with the FA over selection.

I think it's a really good appointment.

Why anyone would appoint Mclaren or Woy in the first place is beyond me but all those disasters could have been avoided.

Woy even had the neck to say he wasn't finished in football management. Cheeky cunt. Yes you are pal.

Woy even said that he'd done a good job and was proud of what the players had achieved a day after losing to Iceland

Officially announced now. BFS as the England manager. Sunderland were a bit classless in their press release, not even thanking Sam or wishing him well.

The Mackems i know all appreciate what he's done and genuinely wish him well, last weekend they weren't too impressed about rumours doing the rounds that Moyes is next in line for them..........

We are the Bolton/Hammers (at the time)/Sunderland of world football. Alladyce is the man for me, he's got bollox to play to our strengths, not our weaknesses.
