Office/Work Euro's Sweepstake?

Here is the place to talk about all things city and football!

Office/Work Euro's Sweepstake?

Postby CTID Hants » Tue Jun 07, 2016 10:19 am

Anyone else's works/friends/pubs doing a sweepstake for the Euro's?

I pulled my two out yesterday & have to say until then i hadn't paid much attention to certain groups

I was really please with my first one which is France who should get me 3rd place at least meaning a share of the wedge.

Second out are Hungary, potentially a dark horse despite not having been to the finals of WC or Euro's since 1990, parking Portugal to one side if they could beat Austria they could get through (fuck it, who am i kidding).

Anyway, the sweepstake has given me some excitement back for the Euro's.

So who did you get?

It's footy so leave it here.

I haven't been involved in any sweeps but might do one myself at work and get everyone involved. It's a bit of fun

Hungary are absolutely muck!

France and Germany should end up playing each other in the semi's and who ever win's that game will probably win the tournament.

I got Italy and Hungary in mine.

€20 stake. Winner gets €100, runner up €60. Beaten semi finalists get their stake back.

Team with most red cards and the worst performing team both get their stake back too.

Keeps it interesting.

We got a 'good' and a 'less good' team each in ours. I drew Italy and Ukraine. No chance.

There's a good e-mail doing the rounds in our place today. I think it originated on twitter or the likes. The name on the account was blocked out.
It reads;

Gents,
A lad I work with bought tickets to the Ireland v Belgium game in Bordeaux on June 18th.
The problem is he completely forgot when buying the tickets that it clashes with his wedding day. (he applied for tickets, didn't expect to get them, forgot about it, but low and behold they arrived). I know this is short notice, but are any of you interested in getting married in a fortnight.?

And people say the English get giddy at tournament time!

As for Iceland, they won a qualifying group which contained Turkey and the Netherlands. I don't know much about them beyond Sigurdsson and Gudjonsen, but surely they're no mugs. Not potential winners but far from the worst side with that on their CV.
